Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

Cheers Phil. Apologies for not getting back sooner, bit of an emergency cropped up which is why I haven't been on and thanked you for your help once again. I should have an '82 XJS or '78 XJ6 wheel nut or two kicking about still so will check carefully.Pretty sure the front aren't metric as I saw a ...

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

Daft question as i'm trying to get wheel nuts to fit my new wheels. the fronts have had extended studs fitted so i'll have to find out exactly what thread type they are. As I remember there were 7x14 Wolfies so I suspect they may be original thread types. Can someone please advise what they are as I...

Re: Alan Dean gauzes

Daft question here, lookied at the diagrams for the gauzes. It says to use minimum of 0.4mm wire for the gauze. Now, does this mean that the aperture has to be .4mm or the wire thickness is .4mm?

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

Not alot of work done this end but I did squeeze in a couple of jobs today. Repainted the headlight surrounds in satin black. Chopped down a SE6a Rad trim and fitted it .I will probably paint that tomorrow but was considering painting it with chrome paint and picking out the recessed area by hand in...

Re: The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Think I may give that a go. Was told to buy 2 pack Pimer and then discuss paint type with him (local spray guy) once I got Kato ready for paint. But, if you guys have used those type of paints before and reckon they are a good finish then I certainly won't dismiss it out of hand. It'll keep the cost...

Re: The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Never seen that before, that paint. :? I would be tempted to try that on an old Land Rover used for off roading maybe but given all the work you've put in on that car i'd be very sceptical about the paint finish. I'd at least want to see a Fibreglass car painted and see the finish first hand rather ...

Re: The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Like the look of it, really suits, looks like it was meant to be there. And if it doesn't fit, make it fit!!

I'll definitely be doing similar on both my SE5a + SE6a. Fantastic find. I'd have bought one already after your post if I didn't need tyres for my wheels.

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

I'm sure Rog will advise but from the diagram hee linked to the Air Dam does exactly that, make for a cleaner movement of the air around the front of the car and the splitter provides for direct flow fast and straight under the vehicle. It's just a reverse wing in truth. Providing downforce not lift.

I got a set of those Golf Mk 1 Indicator + Sidelights too, but clear lenses. Really look the part they do. I too especially like the fuel cap. Do you have a link pls. You could start a trend with this one too!! :D

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

I think the way the arches mould into the splitter is clever. I know what you mean, and Pete's car is very nice indeed, but my inner pedant can't resist pointing out that it doesn't have a splitter  I feel a technical explanation coming Rog?? :D As a matter of interest, what piece of bodywork...

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

I was just throwing ideas at you in case the back wheels sit proud.Fibre-glassing isn't for everyone and might be shame as the car looks recently painted. It is a damn fine idea and one I would defo be looking at but not quite yet as I really do want to turn up to Curbs in Aug. It'd be a good skill...

Re: The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Oh yeah. On that subject Darryl. I have a set of Clear Indicator front indicators from a BMW I was going to mod to git the SE6a I have but they were too long. They come as Indicator + sidelight. Was wondering if you thought about doing a similar light arrangement as the Capri Concept. Would be much ...

Re: 69 SE5a What to name the project though??

Me too but it's that balance of correct fitment, looking good and being drivable that makes for the comprimise. Will hopefully get there soon. Might have to do likewise and have different sized front tyres and fettle some more. All part of the fun though.
