Rear Wiper & Park Position?

I've just uploaded a couple of videos showing what happens to the rear wiper as it parks and the motor internals as they park. It seems that the motor actually changes direction via a reversal in polarity. A bit weird really. I wonder if any other cars have this system? https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Tappet adjustment query

I managed to upload a video of me using the dial guage and some of the troubles I had with it to begin with. I got better at it later on!

Tappet adjustment query

Sideways movement can cause a big change in the reading (say 0.3mm) caused I think by the the uneven top surface plus the fact that the rockers can also rock sideways a bit - which not only alters the reading if the guage is not centred but i think also changes due to the way the rocker sits on the ...

Tappet adjustment query

well it turned out that my dial guage, or rather its very simple stand would not allow be to attach it anywhere useful - so I bought another one of ebay that has a multi position arm. It has a magnetic base and I attached it in various places on the side of the cylinder heads and exhaust manifold. T...

Rear Wiper & Park Position?

Stainless and GRP are both inert but a combo of different light exposure and dampness under the plate will certainly affect how it all looks once the plate is off

BTW I wanted to post a video of the motor park in action but the system doesnt like MP4

Rear Wiper & Park Position?

An Update. Wiper is now working properly. I would say 'normally but indeed what it does is very strange and a 'Dance' is probably a good description. The insides of the motor are different to others of a similar appearance It seems that the parking mechanism involves a reversal of motor polarity and...

Does this RX8 gearbox work out with the 3 litre Essex to replace the Type F? I note that someone on Ebay is doing an adaptor plate for the Essex https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303229326887?_trksid=p2045573.m570.l5999&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI303229326887.N36.S1.R1.TR2 but is advertising it to replace the Type ...

Rear Wiper & Park Position?

That's very interesting. That linked topic diagram reveals a very odd motor crank arm. Looks like this is not just a standard lucas motor. I might even take it out for a look inside... It's not parking right now but I wonder if that's because If messed up the connection behind the rotary switch But ...

Rear Wiper & Park Position?

Having used my SE6a in the rain a bit this weekend I now realise how useful the rear wiper is. However the park position for the rear wiper is a bit of a mystery to me. The wiper has to park on the bodywork in order for the hatch to open, but does that mean in normal operation the wiper wipes back a...

Column multi switch and window switches

My car came without electric windows, so I retrofitted motors from an SD1.
But for the switches I made my own setup using simple buttons from ebay and some reasonably clever relay wiring. I actually used the simplified version with the diodes

Hi. I think the click you heard is from the intermittent wipe controller. That unit works by giving the main motor a prod so that the wiper park mechanism takes over and causes the motor to give a complete sweep. Unfortunately it sound unlikely that that unit is to blame. More likely a fuse or a poo...

The only problem with adding ePAS to a manual rack is that you'd still have the 4.7 lock to lock ratio and there are no Quick racks for a princess as far as I've seen so far Seems to me that if we can find any car with the right width rack, then the LHD version could possibly be made to fit The LHD ...

One of the best ways forward could be the idea of electric PAS using a manual rack. The only issue is finding a manual rack that is geared suitably

Yes that does look good. I see you've still had to mod the bulkhead though, which I wanted to avoid really.
How much power and what is that gearbox?
