if you can get hold of the square stud extractor rather than the normal round ones...they are less prone to breaking

depends on the size of the roll pin phil...small ones are more prone to hitting the fan as the best way to get one out is to run a tap into it and rotate the whole thing while pulling it out...obvs the smaller it is ...the easier to snap the tap

the mounting bracket is sitting at 570mm to its centre which is the stock position, so if the bracket will go in then so should the box, unless ive cocked up ofc :roll:

the box itself even though it looks huge is only 10mm wider and 5 mm taller than the Ti, but is much shorter

it doesnt actually go into the tunnel jim...unless ive really missed something, the only part that will is the gearchange arm and the prop...everything else is forward of that point

the Ti gearbox mounting bracket has a parallel section at the rear that fits into the tunnel, the front part opens up at an angle that follows the tunnel forwards...that the bit where it's tiewrapped to the box in the pic ...hope this is a bit clearer now jim

no jim...if you look at the very rear of the gearbox in the top pic you can see the Ti mounting bracket...crusty bit held on with tie wraps
...there is plenty of room (ish)

the Ti mounting bracket is mocked up at the original distance from the bellhousing face ....i never said it was going to rattle around in there :shock: but we will make life a bit easier and make a new mounting bracket ...as we know from the turbo downpipe/ chassis clearance...it doesnt move much un...

The way i have looked at this gearbox swap is from two distinct angles, firstly using the 120d gearbox. The original intention was to keep the 3.96 diff and use the 120d box as a 5 speed using 2nd gear on the box as 1st...it's actually pretty close to the 3.02 1st on the Ti box at 2.83 so a slightly...

And i'm beginning to suspect that nissan and bmw knew i was going to do this, the stars have aligned, to the point that a 6206 stock bearing fits the crank and takes the bmw input shaft perfectly. its going to end up 1ft shorter than the nissan box, so thats a bonus, and i'll probably have to make a...
