Will start with a clean up of the switch block, and see if it fixes it.
As always what was the last thing that you touched , Yes I was behind the dash three weeks ago getting ready for its MOT so may have disturbed the block.

More shiny things to bolt on to the engine 38DGAS thanks to AJL, Have reinstated the auto choke ( east job ) as PO had only put a small steel pipe in to join original hoses together. New K & N air filter from QRG ( more shiny things ) Have down loaded AJL's weber set up and all seems easy ( so far )...

Hi Jim

I think it is cast differently ,as if you look at the rib ends next to the machined teeth they are machine marks on the ribs, more so on these two ribs

Ok heres an update The timing wheel is from GW And I had some time today so I took it apart again and you can see that the timing wheel has been marked on two ribs and the cover has marks on the rib above the fuel pump channel, so grinding off the channel is the answer. Thanks for the photos Dave I see that your fan boss is off centre and has a fitting on the inside , mine is in the centre and so will require a longer fan belt ( not a problem ) but I am having some interference issues with my new timing wheel, I suspect its the small casting rib above the fuel pump...

Well its me again, with more questions, Got it all back together with nice new bolts , IMG_1474.JPG but I don't know my own strength and over tightened my pulley bolts , What can I do about it , can you repair it with metal putty / replace it or is it easier to replace the complete cover IMG_1473.JP...

Thanks Phil,

This is the order they came out.

So a mixture of long and short. But not that much different ,so will test depth of hole before I put back in.
