SE6A rolling resto - much AGRo

Time for an update. Alternator replaced by high capacity version: http://scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39707&p=458282#p458282 Rumbled alarmingly when I first started it up – I thought the bearings were shot – but it settled down and now just whines like a supercharger… It has fixed all...

I think it was someone on here who suggested Mighty Car Mods. I go off and on it (not so keen on the Jap stuff) but the supercharged mini series of videos was brilliant and the Skid Factory on the related channel MCM TV2 has some nerdy detail. Tavarish and his Lamborghini rebuild on YouTube kept me ...

I love a bit of Engine Masters, Roadkill and Roadkill Garage from Motor Trend On Demand - Roadkill and Engine Masters used to be on YouTube but seem to only be snippets now? Still, a subscription is cheap...

Btw, is it usual to have two belt spaces on the front piece?

Essex V6 front pulley(s) alignment SE6A

Oldconn, that's what I expected to see. Harold, I get what you say but that's a lot of holes drilled on one side of an otherwise uniform pulley.

Anyone else got the front pulley with or without holes?

Essex V6 front pulley(s) alignment SE6A

I'm mid timing gear replacement and have hit a snag with the three part front pulley for the power assisted steering model. I unbolted the front section to get access for a socket and removed it, not realising that is not obviously keyed or marked as to which of the 4 ways it can go on is correct. H...

Springs, Dampers and Bushings

Agree with all of the above. Re shock types, Nigel Clark (on here, and writes for practical classics) went Gaz and identified an issue with different spring diameters. https://scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/viewtopic.php?t=31478. However, my memory is that previously he'd identified Gaz as these lasted the...

Random stuttering/cutting on way to work this morning

Strangely all week on the return home. Either it was damp, but seems strange as it had an hour's drive to dry out, or my wiggle of wires sorted out. On a random note, this morning the voltmeter was only showing charge around 12-13v. This evening it showed 14ish. Both with lights off and no other dra...

Ah, good point (joke somewhere there) about the rev counter. Which isn't connected up...! Will temporarily wire it in.
