To pinstripe or not to pinstripe

I quite like the pinstripe on my coupe. It was on the car when I bought it, so luckily didn’t have your dilemma.

GTE bits

Hi Geraint,
Do you have a se5/5a suspension tower cross brace (not sure what it is actually called) amongst your spares?

I’m after the curved type, which I assume will fit an earlier car that’s has the straight version.

Thanks Andy

I notice the trigger wheel is fairly close to the pulley. It maybe picking up the signal from the pulley, if the diameter of the trigger wheel (measured on the bottom of the teeth) isn't larger than the pulley. I couldn't tell if this was the case or not from the video. I found that the ford sensors...

Jacking points

Thanks Roger, that seems to explain the difference. I hadn't realised that the jacking points had been moved from the main chassis rails out to the outriggers between SE5 and 5a.

Jacking points

This thread has got me thinking about jacking points on my SE5 chassis. I'm currently replacing the outriggers and a few other rusty bits. I don't have any holes in the rear tubes and rust, along with previous repairs, means I can't tell what was once there at the front outrigger corner. Did the SE5...

A new cooling discussion

I experimented on another car, with a similarly lowdown intake to the radiator, that struggled to cool the engine at speed, after I'd removed the viscous fan it had. I used a differential pressure gauge (magnehelic), which has two connections, to compare the pressure in front of the radiator with th...

Look what came in the post today

A nice big box arrived yesterday from Mark (gtcse8), which included some of his finest steel work.

It fits perfectly and even includes some modifications I requested. Not sure about the picture of a Jack Russell on it though...

GTE Pedal Boxes

I've managed to fit a SE6a pedal box to my SE5, but it wasn't easy. The pedal box needed a bit of modification and it's difficult getting enough clearance to the steering column. As you can see in the photos, the bulkhead needed major surgery. I can't say I'd recommend it unless you are feeling very...

DJs SS1 - now dad's sprint car

Jim, If clearance is still an issue, it is worth looking at fitting the 1.8 escort oil pump instead, as the oil filter mount is at a different angle and much closer to the block. When I fitted a Zetec to the Ginetta, the mondeo oil pump clashed with the steering column, whereas the 1.8 escort one cl...

SE5 clutch identification

It's a little difficult to be certain from the photos, but there are a couple of ways to work out which type you need. The clutch cover needs to match the flywheel, as the pcd of the holes is slightly different. The early flywheel has imperial threads for the clutch cover, whereas the later one is m...

Joe's 1972 GTE - Is it not Finished Yet?

Thanks Roger/Joe, I'll have to keep an eye out for one.

I had the remains of a spoiler on my se5 but there was only about six inches left either side, so I couldn't tell what it originally looked like.

Joe's 1972 GTE - Is it not Finished Yet?

What is the front spoiler, it looks good and seems to fit very nicely?

Is that one that's available?

Andy.
