Free SE5 wheels/Essex V6 block

I'm having a garage clearout so just wondering if anyone wants four 1969 Se5 wheels which would need a real good shotblast? I also have a late type Essex V6 block. It is all cleaned up and painted black, all new core plugs fitted and hardly used -10 main bearings. I had it bored to +30 but the bores ...

Low tension circuit questions

So using a digital multimeter with the engine running is a no no? I will try a timing light for each cylinder and see what I get. The engine runs perfectly when some throttle is applied, but it runs like a pig through town when I am hardly touching it. I even swapped my twin carb set up for a single ...

Low tension circuit questions

I am investigating an annoying misfire at low speed/tickover on my SE5. I measured the voltage at the +ve lead going onto the coil and I'm getting 12.5 volts. I thought this a bit odd as I assumed it would have a ballast wire fitted in the loom. When I fit the wire on the coil with the ignition on I...

Essex V6 D port manifold or vacuum adaptor

I could do with a D port inlet manifold as well ideally, as the manifold I have is an oval port
and my heads are D port.

Essex V6 D port manifold or vacuum adaptor

Does anyone have a servo vacuum adaptor for the inlet manifold?
Mine has vanished somewhere in my pile of bits.
Cheers,
Nick

Essex V6 tapping[again!]

I put my old Granada standard heads on and the engine sounds lovely now.
It must have been the valves sticking all along.

Essex V6 tapping[again!]

I removed the heads and took the valves out and all of the inserts seem secure. However two of the inlet valves were very tight to remove and had to be tapped out. I assume the stem tops have mushroomed slightly, but even so I was surprised they were that difficult. Also, the stems of the tight valves...

BX fan cooling upgrade

I fitted an Astra HX2 15" fan to the rear of my SE5 rad pulling the air through.
I just cut a recess out of the housing to allow it to fit around the rack, and made up a cowling to seal the top in.
Dead cheap and it is very efficient.
