Manny the tank straps are Bolted at the back and on long studs at the front so you would need a very deep socket to get those off.

Manny's 81 GTC

Good day all, well i managed to remove all four rear axle bolts without any butchery, along with the handbrake pulley...i then started to think about removing the tank to get at the Watts linkages...i struggled for about an hour trying to get the filler assembly out :D ..its almost there, probably e...

Yep, clamp under rear seats and pulley under the handbrake lever.
cool..that will make attacking the adjuster nuts easier...assuming i can get at the trailing arm fixings...i had to cut through the front uppers on the GTE, i suspect i will need to repeat that operation again...

Good day,

looking at the handbrake setup, if i can release the pulley and the clamps further down, that should enable the whole cable system to be removed with the axle?..

Chop the handbrake cable rather than the mounts - it needs replacing anyway if the adjuster nuts are toast?

Manny's 81 GTC

Good day, a bit more progress today, i was mainly battling in removing all the brake pipe and handbrake gubbins from the axle , but the handbrake nuts on the brackets are well and truly rust welded...may resort to chopping them ..as they should be fairly easy to weld back on.? I managed to remove th...

Manny my latest GTC project had the old style brackets fitted, I thought they may have been replaced by a previous owner but may be not, when sourcing replacements remember they are handed.

Manny's 81 GTC

seems bizarre to replace with an earlier type..? Would have been a cheaper option as the earlier type were un salable after the above bulletin was issued. :?: Also Manny, after Geraint's post about my modified bushes, due to the impending loss of my machines I`m unable to manufacture the special bu...
