SAR Massive irregular misfire

Update! I stood staring at the engine compartment wondering where to start and chose the coil. It's an Accuspark ballasted coil (blue). It so happened that I had another Accuspark coil, but it was red (unballasted), but I thought b****r it why not give it a go. Long story short ( I do tend to spin '...

SAR Massive irregular misfire

Well now I'm thoroughly depressed :( . Thought I'd give the car a bit of a run to see if there's any improvement. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, I hardly got round the corner when it started again  struggling to rev, but not dying completely. In fact it appears ...

SAR Massive irregular misfire

Vacuum pipe check maybe ? Phil Well, Phil as soon as you posted that I immediately thought THAT May be it. I had a problem with the vacuum valve a few years ago and bought a new one from QRG, but the symptoms I had then were similar. This morning I replaced the new one with a spare of the old type ...

SAR Massive irregular misfire

Hold the revs around 2000 and give the ignition key a gentle wiggle and tap. Is your keyring heavily loaded, or just the couple of keys you need and an RSSOC keyring? Thanks for the idea Phil, tried that but no effect. Engine is behaving at the mo , can't reproduce the misfire . No real weight on k...

SAR Massive irregular misfire

I've just been out to her again and she started fine, revved normally up to 2500 revs , held it there for 10 secs or so, returned to tick over, repeated several times for 15 -20 mins, no misfire. Just thinking ( I don't make a habit of it!) the revs are probably just following the misfire as engine ...

SAR Massive irregular misfire

Just used SAR to go and get our Click and Collect  No problem starting her and went well for the first 1/4 mile then developed a massive misfire. Rev counter going crazy. Then, after a minute or so, everything fine again, revs normally and we take a chance and continue. No problem until we're ...

Ok Terry, you know SAR doesn't have a Webasto, but apart from that it's a nice thought from my youngest eh?
Maybe it's just the stitching

SE5 bits, carb, air filter, steering wheels, Jaguar seats and more

Evening,
Door cards don't look much better than the ones I have already I'm afraid, so I'm happy to let Gavin have them. Sorry to have troubled you.

I could be interested in the SE5 door cards, again depending on condition and price. Thanks

Not standard. I did that myself to copy the 5a on which it WAS standard. Just liked the look

5 / 5a wheel trims

Dave, Those wheel trims on your first picture are the same that we're on SAR, my 1970 SE5, from new. As I understand it they changed to the ones shown shown in Jim's picture as soon as the 5a was introduced. They did not carry over to the 5a afaik Here's a pic of SAR taken in about 1974 IMG_0203.JPG...
