Rear hubs/bearings?

I shall have another go! Unfortunately, I don't have any steelies, I am getting a collection of SS1 wheels though... I don't suppose you can get the socket through an alloy? Thank you so much for all of the helpful and supportive comments, it's genuinely appreciated! On another note, in the last Sli...

Rear hubs/bearings?

Yes, I think it's in both planes but much more noticeable top to bottom. It feels like there is about 2mm movement, not just a bit of play... I've tried to work out where the movement is and I think it is in the hub. I've not noticed it before but then I haven't done much to the rear end. Passed the...

Rear hubs/bearings?

Yes, no wheel, split pin removed and then tried tightening the castellated nut, but I suspect I was only moving the drive shaft. I'm presuming that the handbrake needs to be off but the car in gear?

Rear hubs/bearings?

Hmmm... Just a bit worried about a touch of rear wheel steering! Maybe they just need tightening a touch more... If that is even possible.

Rear hubs/bearings?

Thank you Peter, great to know. Quick update: I removed the wheels and the split pin and tried tightening the castellatted nut, to the point where my breaker bar was bending. The nut moved but I suspect it was actually the drive shaft turning as, in relation to the split pin home, the nut hadn't app...

Rear hubs/bearings?

I think it may have stopped raining so I'll have a go. New tyres and tracking booked for Saturday morning, I have a feeling that the correct figure for that is dead ahead i. e. 0 degrees, no toe in or out, is that correct?

Thank you guys, you are terrific!

Heater blower disassembly

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic fan to allow access to the lower wiring? I now have two fans: one with the cooked wiring and a second one that looks good but the shaft is much tighter ( ) and turns but not that easily. Ideally, I would try and fix both, but the plastic blades don'...

Rear hubs/bearings?

I thought I should move this thread from my request for a heater blower, I hope this is ok? Basically, I put new wheels on the my TI: 7 x 16" et35 forged BBS with 195/45 tyres. I was obviously a touch concerned about clearance so I checked them quite thoroughly before driving. The car felt much more...

Sorry Roger, if you grasp the wheel at the top and bottom there is movement parallel to the wheel i.e. it is as if the nuts are not fully wound down.

You are also a genius, Jim! It's definitely not the nuts (my first thought was that they werent long enough and were not working on the new wheels but, in fact, they tighten almost to the hub)... And when the handbrake is on there is no movement. Basically, I was working on the car and decided, due ...

Philip, you are a genius! I thought I read it was a fiesta MK 1 fan (don't know where I saw that...). I'll take a look and see if its the same.
