Top wishbone bolt... Tears before bedtime...

Hi Alan, thanks for that... I spent another 7 hours on it today. I'm not happy, I even looked at removing the wing but it looks like it needs the door removing too and I'm already in trouble as a service has become a complete front end rebuild. I think if panels start coming off I'll be chucked out....

Top wishbone bolt... Tears before bedtime...

I've managed to cut the wishbone off by doing exactly that, Peter. I then tried to shift it by trying to drift the remainder out. I'm not normally stumped by such things but this isn't shifting and I really don't want to have to remove the wing as the car has had an almost complete front end restora...

Top wishbone bolt... Tears before bedtime...

Ok, first wishbone bolts comes out with just a few gentle taps but the second one... I just have spent 12 hours on it. Either they've used the wrong diameter bolt or it's bent! It won't turn at all (particularly now it has no head...) and I've tried drilling a hole and feeding gallons (possibly a sl...

Also, whilst checking it, look to see if the fuel adjustment blanking plug has been drilled out. The fuelling is set at factory level but can be adjusted a little by drilling out (very carefully!)the plug (under a round rubber cover) and revealing the adjustment screw. Details are in the Red Book...

Check for water in the MAF (apparently quite common) and you can try cleaning the wire (visible down a small hole in the alloy casting) with a no residue electronics cleaner (dont actually touch the wire, just use a spray - this is fine as far as I know) but you have to be really careful with it, as...

Hi Phil, are they specific spacers (like the wishbone ones) or just washers?

Thank you!

I was refitting my front dampers and noticed one had several washers on the bolts and the other none... Of course, I'd forgotten to take any notice when removing. Do the dampers require any washers or spacers, on either end? I've tried to search and even look at photos but nothing seems conclusive. ...

I don't like seeing them at this price and in this condition. It's probably worth more in bits... And I suspect too many have been broken.
