At last! I have my SE5 back!

So the oil dip stick was on the front cover - its was so full of gunk you couldn't see any joins, so the front cover and the pulley are off the original engine now, and have been painted up. The heads on the old engine must have been changed as they are D port from memory so hopefully switching inle...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Thanks Phil, From memory of the last top end rebuild the heads on the original engine are D port so I'm guessing the manifold must be d port as well. Do I have to switch all the part and the sump over? or will it fit as is? I have been unlucky (sometimes from over enthusiastic help) with this engine...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Thanks Ian. Thats kind of what I had in mind, so have a reference to work from. had a few calamities today, the brass tee sender sheered off in the 'new' block today and the removal tool destroyed the thread. So I am now planing on swapping the air intake manifolds over, although the new black is a ...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

I guessed the exhaust would be the issue, I am hoping to get about 1cm if possible maybe 2, just to give me a little more head room. Has anyone tried it on a se5 before?

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Hey guys sorry for the radio silence. The GTE has taken a back foot at the moment as my father died by surprise just under three months ago. So I have been dealing with his estate. I have decided to get back to in again in the new year when my mind is a bit more focused and I can make a full list of...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Hi gtcse8 So far I am thinking I will only need carb and exhaust gaskets, as if I can source the top cross brace and the 5a lower chassis part that Scimjim is talking about then I can leave the engine intact. Any leads on these parts would be great. As for the slave its the first time its been off. ...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Also I wondered if anyone had any of these parts, and how much they would want for them.... 1 x Grilling clutch Slave cylinder (the type that is held in with a Cir clip) 1 x top end gasket set - Although head gasket are not currently needed, mostly the carb and exhaust is all that is needed 1 x bott...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Hi I have already pulled the top cross member at the front of the block that is above the fan, do you mean a lower cross member? I also through the 5 and 5a cross brace - the tubular part between the suspension was the same?

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Hey guys. After two days hard graft. And a burst of motivation, I have the engine and the box out of the car. It seems my cheap Chinese crane was (just long enough) The engine oil smelled of fuel. So that is not a great sign. I’m glad I’m going for a swap right now. Especially as I have a bunch of p...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Thanks guys, I am looking into some cameras, as I found someone sat on the bonnet of my minor rolling a cigarette yesterday. Have no idea why someone would think that was okay! But at least they are leaving the se5 alone for now. Basically now my plan is to get some helping hands and pull the box an...

At last! I have my SE5 back!

Hi Guys, Its been a long time since the last post, I haven't put the new engine in the car mostly down to the weather, but also the fact I'm getting very disheartened with it at the moment. Every time I go out and take a look at the car, some local scumbag has either stolen something from it - all t...
