Nigel at QRG has the original details as he has a factory list for the S6. Saw it on last visit.

Random SS1 headlight behaviour

Hi all, When I bought my SS1 the passenger side headlight wouldn't go down. I read Phil Wormald's guide, fitted a good s/h motor (cooper strip and limit switches all like new). Worked fine...for a week. Now, headlight will go down, but it also randomly goes up and down on it's own, even when the car...

SS1 carburettor questions

Fitted at the weekend, you were not wrong about the throttle clip, what an awkward design. Seems to be running very well so far although I've managed to lose the throttle clip so can't venture too far at the moment without the cable falling off until a replacement arrives. Definitely an improvement.

SS1 carburettor questions

Thank you for those details, that's helpful. I'd assumed something was missing from the ball but now I see that's just where the cable connects. Will have a play. Thanks

SS1 carburettor questions

Hi all, I have a 1300 SS1 with the VV carb fitted. I also have a manifold and weber from a 1600 SS1 that i'd like to fit to try and get a bit more power. 1). Is this a stupid idea ? 2). If not, my new carb has the throttle linkage missing - does anyone have the missing bit ? 3). Will I need to chang...

Flywheel balancing.

I have also heard conflicting opinions on this. I have spoke to Car Clinic in Darwen who will be building my 3.4 engine and they said it's perfectly safe to remove a small amount of weight without going over the top. I have driven a 3.4 essex engined 6a belonging to a member on here and it revved mu...

SS1 'Mr Green' back from the dead.

It seemed to cause no issues. Although, fingers crossed I have no plans on trying it again :)

SS1 'Mr Green' back from the dead.

October 2018 (I'm a bit late posting...) Time for an update on ‘Mr Green’, now 9 months since purchase and over 3000 miles covered regardless of weather. It’s been going well, but a massive oil leak meant the engine and gearbox had to come out. Not really what I needed as I’ve two other cars needing...

B-pillar Back to Black

I've found most of the 'back to black' type sprays work well but don't last long. Best thing i've found is...shoe polish. But make sure there's none to get on any clothes etc.
