Radio turns off while idiling

Must be a bad earth or poor 12v connection at the stereo. Could even be inside the stereo itself. Check the voltage at the 12v input to the stereo, if same as battery voltage with engine off, check it at idle and at revs. If all voltages at the stereo match battery voltage in these test environments...

SS1 1800 CVH Door card woes

The door not opening from inside or out when the door card is fitted will be due to the door card rubbing on or slightly restricting the free movement of the linkages at the rear of the door for the door open mechanism and or pop up locking pin that pops up through the door card. Ss1 seat upgrade

Aftermarket Caterham 7 and similar kit car seats can be made to fit. They're narrow enough and nice and low too with good side support.

Lotus Exige seats look very low profile and were on my list of seat to try, but they're not cheap.

Chassis, chassis, then the chassis! They' weren't galvanized so serious rust can easily occur and it's can be a body off or a re-chassis job. I rescued a Kitten that had been stored outside and the chassis was so rotten you could pull bits of it off by hand. The front suspension ripped away as it wa...

running problems

If it was running fine until today when you changed the thermostat, you must have disturbed or disconnected a sensor wire near the thermostat area you were working in. There's a coolant temperature sensor connector and the auto choke connector plug near there to the right side of the inlet manifold,...

Try phoning him and talking about it. Its his money, he can't claim it back through Paypal though, either keep his money and wait for him to collect the engine or refund him his money and sell it again elsewhere.
