Ignition cut out

Same thing happened to my 5a some years ago now. Fuse contacts were dirty causing the fuse holder contacts to get hot and melting the fuse box. As the plastic softens the fuse contacts move and lose contact with the fuse. Make sure all the fuses are clean and that the contacts are gripping the fuse ...

Paint finish on roof

Have the same issue on mine, though much less severe. Car is kept in a garage and I try to avoid rain. On occasions when the car has been wet for a prolonged period ( 2 days solid at a car show ) lacquer in affected areas becomes soft and pliable with water between the paint and lacquer. Once the la...

Rear lamps - OEM source?

Middlebridge would have procured these in quantity to reduce costs so it is unlikely there are differences in the units they fitted when new. Most likely a previous owner has replaced a single unit after one has been damaged and has not selected quite the right version. I recall Bob getting these fo...

Middlebridge suspension

Mick and George were working with AVO to come up with a dual rate solution, it was trialled on George’s car but I believe it had a rather unhealthy appetite for suspension bushes and was “ put on hold “. You might be able to find more info on the MESS site, I seem to recall seeing George’s reports o...

Middlebridge suspension

Looking at the parts list a while back, I got the impression that the wishbones, hub & damper unit were supplied as pre assembled unit to bolt on to the chassis. Mine had Bilsteins on the front, replaced them 10 years ago with Girlings from GW. There were no visible markings on the original units sa...

Re: 2.9EFI engine and Octane service socket.

Hi, as AJL say's, no connections are required for 97 Ron fuel. The octane adjustment plug can be removed. When these cars were new, the engines were supplied ready to run on leaded 4*. To run on unleaded it was recommended to have an octane adjustment plug fitted by the dealer, this consisted of the...

Re: reversing light switch

I had this problem a while back, 12V for this comes via a connector mounted just forward of the wiper motor. It also feeds the kick down switch mounted on the throttle body. This connector seems to be prone to water ingress, despite the crimp terminals visually appearing to be in good condition, one...

Re: Middlebridge steering wheels options

Hi, I changed the steering wheel on MB47, fitted a Motolita wood rim. The boss that came with it was supposedly an 86 SE6 fit for a splined shaft, the shaft in the Middlebridge is a hex bar, gave dimensions to Motolita and they swapped the boss for a Ford fit which is currently on the car. Is mine t...

Re: Photo from 2005 Birmingham Classic Car Show

Yes, mine is number 47. There were 3 black cars, the other is number 76 but it went to the Netherlands.
I will need to write to DVLA and get a history from them, timeline from Middlebridge to Straight Eight would give a better idea of when/if it was shown.
Thanks, best regards, Mark.

Re: Photo from 2005 Birmingham Classic Car Show

Received some interesting info from Will, going on adverts placed in Slice 204, and comments above, car wasn't part of the 2005 NEC. From an old web advert, previous owner thinks it was in the Birmingham Motor Show, however it doesn't appear in any of the launch pictures I've seen. I'll do some more...

Re: Photo from 2005 Birmingham Classic Car Show

Thanks Jim, appreciate the effort. My copies of Slice only go back to 209 but I'm sure somebody in the local noggin will have a 206 I can borrow.
Best regards, Mark.

Photo from 2005 Birmingham Classic Car Show

I am trying to find a picture of my black Middlebridge at the Birmingham Classic Car Show in 2005, I have been told it was on display but haven't been able to find any evidence to support this. Can any one help please.
Thanks, regards, Mark.

Re: Bridge of Allan show (19.5.13)

Thanks to every one for braving the elements and mud with their pride and joy, and to Greig for setting up the entries. Very happy with the turn out with cars from all over the country, some having to cover a fair distance to attend so a special thanks to Will, Derek and Duncan. Glad every one enjoy...
