And I took the camping stove to the garage, boiled four temp sender units in water and selected the one that made the TIM water temp gauge read 100, so I knows it’s a good match. Although my laser gun temp gauge was telling me water boiled at 88’. :? Alright if I was in the alps but not at sea level...

So engine goes off to engine man on Thursday, in the mean time I’m attacking the vipers. I’m welding a small plate using my oil stick welder that’s older than the car, but it’s so fierce E307A766-DA06-4887-89A6-D893D15CA159.jpeg So I read the instructions and change voltage terminal connector from 5...

the Dizzy cap is a shocker. I know modern rotor arms fail, they short through the ‘bakerlite’ plastic and dizzy shaft rather than deliver the ht spark to the plug.

I’ve had new ones split in the black handle after only a couple of months. I know I’m in the engine bay a lot, but even so frustrating when it happens

So mojo has been a bit thin on the ground. I really wasn’t anticipating pulling the engine this soon, so any activity to do it has been a mental challenge. I’ve even come to disliking all the nuts and bolts :cloud: Still it’s out and I’m planning next steps 5E59024C-008C-4D6B-A789-A0C7B92C55AF.jpeg ...

Stupid question - you haven’t run out of oil have you? Hydraulic tappers and all - I was briefly custodian of a Rover 45 that ran out of oil - only sign was noisy tappets for a short while then total loss of compression on all 4 cylinders. Added oil and it was back to normal. Ooh, maybe oil pump fa...

I have been studious in the maintenance. Oil is good, water is good, likewise I’m stumped at the compression. And those are reading front to back, left bank then right. The cylinder 6 reading, 250, is so strong the rubber pipe tries to straighten and the gauge jumps off the wing where it’s resting. ...

What’s odd is I drove along the bypass, gave it some beans a bit, then drove about 2 miles through town to Asda, parkedup and their was a bit of noise but just assumed it was the gearbox falling apart. Came out after shopping, started up and a load of grinding. And never to run again. Towed home, di...
