Well at least you know how to fix it. There's one in Ashburton you can borrow!

Re: collapsible steering column

Hi dunbar I guess the answer is that the assembly was designed to the standards at the time. This was the same design from the SE4 onwards probably Sabres also I cant remember. But the assembly folds up and as scimmy_man says the original steering wheel was designed to 'squash' if hitting the driver...

Re: collapsible steering column

Hi dunbar58 Surely the column in the scimitar is 'collapsible' by virtue of the universal joints at the rack and at the bottom of the column i.e. in an accident things will fold up rather than push the column back through the driver. The column is a Reliant manufactured item. Interesting to hear of ...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings NZ SS1

Hi 2thmax Don't know where you are but it would be useful for you to join the NZ owners club if not already - Mark Fraser 027 280 2073. Also John Bolland has come up with a local supplied bearing that fits with a simple machining mod, give him a call 0274 977 610 - he might do it for you if you're n...

Re: 6 centre console

Hi Greenmeanie
Its an old post I know but....
Do you still have the moulds for a 6A. I have agreed to buy a scimitar again and it has cracked centre console and carpet covered rear panel.
I am in Oz presently and the car is in NZ please let me know if you can supply and at what cost
Cheers
martyn.

Re: Oakesy's Coupe Project

Ditto Josh.
Well done for picking a coupe
Whilst my first car was a mark III Supervan, my first project was a D reg ST6 coupe.
It's been a bumpy ride ever since! :D

Re: NZ Coupe

Hi Scimher Everything down here is to a rule book mostly written by civil servants creating work for themselves, (sh!t that sounds familiar  ). It was a bit galling to find that my borrowed Toyota Corolla was registered as NZ new after the rule came in and didn't have a hi stop lamp! It's a go...

Re: NZ Coupe

Hi Thought it was time for an update: Job in Christchurch was offered verbally at the end of October and not confirmed. I finally tracked the guy down last month who said his client hadn't signed on the dotted line so he couldn't employ me! - Still waiting. In the mean time I've also managed to get ...

SE5A in galaxy advert

Hi from NZ One of the club members down here - Philip Ropiha has circulated the email - Call me a car spotter, but has anyone else noted that the car interior featured briefly in the Samsung Galaxy Note II ad currently showing on NZ TV is an SE5A Scimitar? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgZfyMIXdH4&...

Re: Scimitars stablemate gets to play in the snow

Hi Windy's note about the Ford crossflow remoinded me of a conversation with Joe Devlin many years ago - he told me that he drove a Rebel with the crossflow unit in and blasted passed one of the Directors driving a Scimitar. He reckoned that that was the end of any development of the Rebel by Relian...
