SS1 1800 CVH Project now running issues!

Having sorted out some of the schoolboy errors - not fully tightening wheel nuts with painted wheels, not taking the V5c to the MOT station when the car is not on the MOT data base ( still to be resolved - may due to error by supplying dealer!) Dropping the idle jet down the main jet tube - it's a t...

SS1 1800 CVH Project now running issues!

Yes it works I checked it off the car :!: closing spring is very weak but thought shouldn't be a problem
But the power lead to it doesn't  I thought I'd checked before :(
Will try again tomorrow -if allowed

SS1 1800 CVH Project now fuel issues as well!

So it now starts OK - with your foot on the throttle. Seems to run OK for the first few seconds then it starts misfiring :? It won't run under 1500 rpm I've checked the carb jets - removed a little "fluff" Replaced 3 plugs (the car came with 4 boxes but 1 contained an old plug!) no difference. Remov...

SS1 1800 CVH Project Steering column length?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm now more confused than ever :? Both columns seem to be the correct length the top one just under 500mm and the bottom one 675 overall (from bottom thin 215 thicker 255 upper 130 gives 600 to underside of UJ +75 for UJ gives 675 all approx but close  ) I can't se...

SS1 1800 CVH Project Steering column length?

Well I've no idea what the column is off but it's definitely 38mm too short (1.5") It looks standard though and fits together OK. The stalks just miss the dash so I guess I'll be cutting the shrouds or I'll have to move the light switch.

SS1 1800 CVH Project Interesting find!

While waiting for a new fuel filler hose as discovered leaking while trying to put some fuel in the tank, I thought I would "just" put on the steering column shroud. IMG_20200703_182235.jpg What's wrong with that? Well the column was about 25mm too short :!: So the key barrel would not fit in the ho...

SS1 1800 CVH Project Good news and Bad!

Well much to my surprise I managed to undo the crank pulley bolt and take the pulley off. On taking off the water pump there was a surprise in the impeller IMG_20200625_172754.jpg It looks like peas or berries :!: No idea how they got there. Water was pouring out but the only thing obvious is the ev...

Well I've briefly got the engine running :D I filled the float chamber after turning it over without the plugs in untill the oil warning light extinguished and after a few reluctant turns it fired :!: A bit lumpy but just about cleared when it ran out of fuel Bad news there's a leak from the water p...
