car dumping coolant

Hi gents thanks for the advice. I put in a lower thermostat in of 82 I think and slightly higher rated pressure cap from GW only 6 months ago. The pressure cap seems to be a tight/snug fit, I will recheck it. I know new parts can also give trouble. I am assuming the thermostat has a jiggle pin as it...

car dumping coolant

Looking for advise please. I drove into work this morning in the Coupe and noticed my Temp gauge reading 90, which is marginally high for my car on a fresh morning. I opened the bonnet and put my infra red temp gun on the thermostat housing which gave 94. I then put the temp gun on the rad and it on...

Nice looking car - lovely colour!
Any one know what that colour is called please, as it’s very similar to mine and my cars going in for painting at the end of the summer .

Very lumpy when cold

Took took the Coupe to a carb specialist and ended up getting a new carb. Apparently it was completely worn out. It’s now set up properly. Starts from cold on the button no lumpiness. It drives a lot smoother and is more responsive and it idles significantly lower than before. It’s mad that one thin...

Alloy Timing Wheel fitted

For the noise issue, if indeed it is an issue: Are you using a manual fuel pump? If you are, then the pump lever might be touching the back of the timing wheel. I had this issue on mine as the pump had a lever was a folder over steel assembly and was too wide. It was an awful racket though, and obv...

Alloy Timing Wheel fitted

Hi Richard, It is a one man job. I did it with my mechanic as I wanted to learn about my car. It took us (me) about 6hrs but I took my time. I had to remove a few bracing struts/cross members on the Coupe to get decent access. We put a puller into the two opposing holes on the fibre wheel and wound ...

Alloy Timing Wheel fitted

My engine was fitted with a new fibre wheel. When I spoke with the person that rebuilt the engine he considered them a service item! So yesterday a new alloy one was fitted which I got from QRG. It makes a right racket on startup  We tried to do it without removing the sump, but what an awkward...
