Welcome to the Notts & Lincs (Forest & Fens) Noggin

On 09 May there will be no meeting as instead we will be holding our annual bash on Friday 06 May at The Abbey Lodge, Tattershall Road, Woodhall Spa, Linconshire, LN10 6UQ

We represent the counties of both Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, or in other words almost 7% of the entire area of England! So finding a suitable venue for everyone is not always an easy task. We try to look for somewhere not too far from the A17, which is a direct route to Newark, so makes the travelling a bit easier.

We have our annual dinner on the second Monday in January, which has always been well supported.

There are normally about 16 of us who meet for the Noggin, even though we have nearly lost some members over the years when they have changed cars – one of our members sold his Scimitar and bought a Riley, but we still welcome him and his wife to our meetings.

I am very lucky to have such a great bunch of Noggin members to join me on these occasions. Generally we all eat at the venue and there is always a great buzz with lots of chat, which means it is a very welcoming environment for significant others; sometimes Scimitars even get a mention! On a more serious note, we have a number of members who are very knowledgeable about Sabres and Scimitars, so if you do need some advice there are always people there to talk to.

As we all lead quite busy lives, we tend to use the monthly meeting as our main event. In the past we have supported County Wheels, a local show of about 500 interesting vehicles of all types, which is run for charity. Also, not being satisfied with our own big area, we have crossed the border into Derbyshire to represent the RSSOC at the Donington Historic festival.

I would like to encourage you to join us if you have not been before; we are quite civilised and have rarely drawn blood when we bite! So, when things have settled down, why not check us out. MB. Scimitar GTC 1984. Purchased in June 2014. Fitted with a 2.9 litre EFI engine and converted to 5-speed manual. Re-sprayed in 2015. This car is just sooo comfortable for even the longest of journeys.

MB. Scimitar SST 1800Ti. Purchased February 2018. Such a fun car to drive; good performance, good road holding and quite a rarity.

MB also has an SE5 and an SE6a (plus a TR4a, a Rover 620ti and a Rover 420 Sport Turbo).

AT. Middlebridge MB50 (the one in front!).

BN. 1975 Se5a. Purchased December 2013. Engine rebuilt and up-rated by Terry Cox Improvements) 2004 with fast-road cam, stage 1 heads, stainless manifolds. Lowered suspension. Recent gearbox and front suspension rebuild by QRG.

DC. 1974 SE5a. Purchased June 2021. Used as daily driver. Now has tow-bar fitted – pictured with portable sound system.

IC. My second Scimitar GTE SE5a – I sold the first one for a TVR, but then realised the error of my ways!
