You probably need to update CM too, I think I beat you by a smidge on their handicap figures.

James's new figures are in the second column. I actually had his BHP at less that 364, so you did better than you thought Jim :D

2019 CM Results

Post by scimjim » Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:31 am

“CM Comp Sec” wrote:Dear All,

Well, what a weekend that was! Loton Park dished up a heady mix of incredibly tight competition, thrills, spills and all under mainly blue skies.

The new points and leaderboard is attached and with some more entrants now having completed 8 rounds or more, two of the top three have changed. Yes folks, we are now starting to get into dropped scores territory. Howard Barnard remains in pole position, with me in second (miracles will never cease) and Gordon Pearce is sitting in third spot.

Congratulations to Matt Eady for the win on Saturday, just pipping Steve Lyle by 4/100ths. Steve Hill is also congratulated for a fine win on Sunday, nearly half a second in front of Alan Hugh Davies. Commiserations must go to Steve Cork who radically deranged the little Scimitar on Sunday. Thank goodness Steve was OK after a heavy crash at Museum exit. Particularly galling for Steve as the split times showed he was well on his way to a new PB.

A big thank you to Marion for timekeeping both days.

Next stop the Cur-burg-ring for some double figure 8 sprinting at Scimfest. Good job it’s only one car on track at a time, otherwise we’d have CMSCCs first destruction derby.

See you there.

Cheers

2019 CM Results

Post by scimjim » Mon Aug 19, 2019 5:03 pm

CM Comp Sec wrote:Good afternoon everyone,

Attached you’ll find the new points and leaderboard following yesterday’s fast and furious driving at Curborough. The sprint was part of the annual Scimfest gathering and run in conjunction with Hagley & District (Loton Park) and it all seemed to run like clockwork, except the Classic Marques class prize giving, where the Hagley club again refused to award trophies on handicap. Anyway, we muddled through and got the right trophies to the deserving winners in the end.

Clive Glass led on handicap all day in the Morgan and won with a margin of exactly 1 second. A large margin in CMSCC terms and a fine drive. A truly fantastic T1 and improved T2 meant Rob Pallett put the Ginetta in 2nd spot in T1 and made sure it stayed there in T2. Matt Rowe was reunited with his Honda again and put the newly repaired gearbox to good use, ending the day in 3rd spot. All this fine driving was accompanied by some driving that many would rather forget, with spins and 4-wheels-off peppering the score sheet with fails.

So, where does that leave things. Well, the top 3 are unchanged. Howard 1st, me 2nd and Gordon 3rd.

A small but important reminder. In order to score in 8 rounds, at least one of your events must be a sprint and at least one must be a hillclimb.

Thanks to our friends in the RSSOC for inviting us to compete at their sprint. I’ve gone a little greyer from trying to compete, whilst trying to keep track of all your times and handicap scores throughout the day, not something I’d recommend! Ben Curry was our Oily Rag reporter and will no doubt tell you what really went on.

I’ll see you next at Wiscombe. In the meantime, Matt Rowe has kindly offered to do time keeping duties at Harewood and Blyton. Much appreciated Matt.

Cheers for now.

Fastest Scim results added to 2nd post.

This is a ranking based on scratch times aginst the number of competitors at the event. So if three people were competing, the fastest scratch time would score 3pts, 2nd 2pts, 3rd 1pt. If four people, first place would score 4pts etc etc.

2019 CM Results

Post by scimjim » Wed Aug 28, 2019 8:17 am

“CM Comp Sec wrote:Good afternoon Classic Marque Drivers,

Attached you’ll find the latest points and leaderboard following the Sunday roast that was Harewood hillclimb. My thanks to Matt Rowe for providing you with on-the-day handicap times.

Roger Fish came out on top by some margin on this hill where the Honda always seems to go well. Steve Lyle was hot on his heels in the Porsche and Matt Rowe came in third in another quick Honda.

The leaderboard has been shaken up a little and the top three now look like this:

1st – Howard Barnard
2nd – Steve Lyle
3rd – Rob Pallett

The next CMSCC round is a double-header sprint weekend at (the Ginetta owned) Blyton. Loved by many and considered too far away by others, this will no doubt be a pivotal weekend in the championship. With Howard’s Mazda regrettably out of action at the moment with supercharger issues, anything could happen.

I REMIND YOU AGAIN THAT YOUR 8 ROUNDS MUST INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE HILLCLIMB AND AT LEAST ONE SPRINT. I can only take 7 of your scores if you stick to just hillclimbing or just sprinting.

As an aside, while you were at Harewood, I was spectating at a superheated Gurston Down, where the British Hillclimb championship was settled. Wallace Menzies is the 2019 champion in his DJ Firestorm with Cosworth XD power. 157 mph over the finish line. Had to be seen to be believed! Our Mr Cox and Mr Everett were also driving there, with perhaps slightly slower finish line speeds, but Mark must take the biscuit for the longest tail slide out of Ashes! It’s hillclimbing Mark, not drifting!

Cheers

2019 CM Results

Post by scimjim » Mon Sep 09, 2019 9:09 pm

CM Comp Sec wrote:Good Evening CM Members,

As I predicted, two days of sprinting at Blyton delivered a bit of a shake-up in the points and leaderboard (attached). Roger Fish reigned supreme on both days with a healthy 50 points for his efforts. On Saturday Steve Lyle, in 2nd spot, got close but could not catch the flying Fish. Matt Eady came home 3rd both days. On Sunday it was Simon Baines who was sandwiched between Roger and Matt in 2nd spot. I’m told there was some fine driving and drama in equal measures. I’m sure the Oily Rag will reveal all in due course.

Our new top three look like this:

1st - Steve Lyle
2nd - Howard Barnard
3rd - Matt Eady

It’s still anyone’s championship with just 5 rounds left to go. Again, I remind you in order to score in 8 rounds, those 8 must include at least 1 sprint and at least one hillclimb.

I would like to thank Matt Rowe for taking care of on-the-day timing duties both days. Much appreciated.

Don’t forget Mark’s email about the awards dinner. It’s always a great night out, so do come along this year.

It’s a return to the hills for our next 3 rounds, starting with the challenging Wiscombe Park next Saturday. I’ll see you there. A repeat of this last weekend’s Wiscombe weather would be nice.

Cheers
