Help finding postings/drawings

Post by gtcse8 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 6:44 pm

Hi All

I am unable to locate the drawings of replacement sills on SE5/a.

I need to cross reference what has been used to repair the sills, and there is some confusion as to sizes and bend angle.

Doing a search or google does not throw up any sizes or dimensions, but I do remember seeing a sketch on scimweb with sizes etc.

Cheers Mark

Thanks Jim

That is one of the postings I remember looking at.

Someone else had posted a sketch/drawing/picture of what they had needed. :?

There seems to be some confusion as to weather the reinforcement plates are flat or bent.

The ones I have supplied are folded, but I have feedback that just a flat sheet was used?. :w

I still cannot access Christians posts, SO, I must really contact him directly.

Cheers Mark

I’ve downloaded Christians posts but you need Dropbox to access it, then a CAD program to open DFX files.

They’re definitely folded, I stripped a 5a last week.

Can confirm they are folded with a strengthening bracket at the end towards rear wheel arch.
That strengthening piece is essential for its stability an just screwed/riveted in place originally.

I guess my angles are just what fitted my car roughly so be careful with this. They may need adaption on your car...

When building them into the body I was able to somehow twist them in from underneath as frame was off. This needed some cuttings in the bended section.

I used sikaflex 252 to glue them in.
When on the frame again the angled sill parts where too glassfibered into place which makes the sills quite stabile. Some holes were left so water and debris can drain out.

PS you can use any dxf viewer on the web to access the files. They are still in my dropbox available for the public with no password anymore.
