I fitted the original column ignition and indicators as the top the MGF one is just about the same diameter. All that was lost was the indicator self cancelling although with a bit of rework it can probably be made to work. I also lost the column lock but my MOT man said it did not matter as I had a battery isolator fitted which was a alternative to the column lock. I bit of drilling will probably also get the column lock working if you want it retaining.

I find it better without self cancelling as once you have started round a bend if you need to indicate half way around the cancelling ring stops you doing it - we have four cars and only one with self cancelling left on - you soon get into the habit of switching the indicators off.

Agreed - my SS1 doesn't self cancel, and I don't find it a problem.

my land rover doesn't cancel too and i'm very forgetful and the problem with it is if someones waiting to pull out and your indicating left and they think your going to turn in front of them and pull out in front of you
luckily the land rover isn't fast enough for it to be an issue hopefully the Scimitar will be ...
anyway just ordered a controller for this now - hopefully i can wire it up and bench test it before fitting it
pity it's so freezing out - i'm itching to get my car on the road but i have to work on it outside

thought i'd have a crack at this now i've got all the parts
got the MGF column all ground up and bracketless
started to remove the scimitar column, got it disconnected in the engine bay end and the 2 bolts out at the top end but it doesn't seem to come out easy like in the write up, mine is stuck and it seems like i need to remove the dash front or the key barrel, the key barrel has shear bolts on so that's not easy
fading light ended my attempts for today

i'll get a photo of mine to see
if i can chisel off the shear bolts i think it will drop off ok - that will be my next plan of attack
