started doing some body prep, it's a messy job
I found that on a fast run the fan was on almost constantly, it had a Vauxhall cowl type one on it that was restricting the flow unless the fan was on , so im going to change that for a more generic fan from Ebay, see how that goes.
Also what pressure cap should I have on mine, I can't tell from the existing one what it is ?
also found the fuel sender units was knackered, managed to find one from a Triumph Herald almost identical
been driving it as much as possible inbetween fixing stuff, the overdrive was very lazy to engage, so rechecked oil level and got another half a litre in , so hopefully that was the cause.I found that on a fast run the fan was on almost constantly, it had a Vauxhall cowl type one on it that was restricting the flow unless the fan was on , so im going to change that for a more generic fan from Ebay, see how that goes.

Still looks quite high - are they fixed length shocks?
ETA - well done on the body off resto, I’ve seen dozens abandoned over the years.
Further edit - see you in Le Mans

All you Jammy sods going to LeMans can you keep your eyes open for Co Co LeBlanc please.
He has disappeared and I was worried about him.
I know he loves LM and was hoping he would show his face at some point.

yes it's on the standard shocks and springs, I did want to get some coil overs to lower it , but will have to wait until later in the year.
we are staying in a campsite near Arnage village, can't wait, going in convoy with a TVR S3 and a Rover SD1.

That's 9 PSI, standard is 9/10. Many have fitted a 13 PSI instead to raise the boiling point of the system. All the hoses/seals/gaskets need to be perfect if you do this.Stupopt1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 1:07 pmAlso what pressure cap should I have on mine, I can't tell from the existing one what it is ?

Enjoy LM. I must make the effort once my Coupe is back on the road.

Core plug started weeping , so I had a little scrap around with a screw driver and coolant started pouring out !
I had already changed most of them when the body was off, but I hadn't done the 3 at the front that were covered by the timing gear back plate, so that was my weekend sorted
still better it happen now that driving down the Mulsanne straight ! now my expansion tank has a small drip

Excellent! Cans are expensive but they're great if you're not doing the whole car at once. Saves a lot of gun cleaning

after a last minute distributor change and a few tweaks , we made it to Le Mans
950 miles with just a top up of oil, car ran great, all my hard work definitely paid off
Unfortunately the Rover SD1 didn't make it , it had to be recovered from just outside CalaisScimitar Se5
