RB25DET skyline engined GTE sprint car

Post by efi_sprintgte » Tue Sep 05, 2017 7:56 pm

Right guys, I have a cunning plan!!

My 5a Jekel which is currently fitted with a skyline engine has hit a crossroads for me.. this is my life commitments not the car I should add!!

Right my plan is to remove the skyline engine and running gear, sell these bits and use the car as a basis for my next silly project (will keep that under wraps for the moment :) )

If anyone has a interest in:

TWO brand new Garret GT20 turbos

RB25det engine that was rebuilt and used for two and a half sprint seasons only

R33 RWD gearbox

R33 paddle clutch

Megasquirt ECU

Let me know via PM

OR if someone really wants that car as a complete competition car I might be persuaded to start again on another GTE

Cheers James

It would be a shame to break it up James, it's a lovely car, massive performance but very tractable and reliable.

I would hope it would appeal to a retro modder, a club member that likes the GTE shape but wants modern go, or of course another compie.
Having driven it albeit briefly it's not quite the animal one would think, but the relentless surge is addictive.

Good luck with the sale mate, and if my garage was empty I'd be buying it! How's that for a vindication, me in a GTE!!!

Haha am I right in saying the only GTEs you've ever driven are the mega supercharged big bob and mine?? :)

It's not so much breaking it just have a plan for a completely different engine setup, but in a lot of ways would rather see someone use this as it was intended!!

I should add I will 100% be sprinting next year regardless of this, I've made the decision to run black beast for a season to allow me build up JKL mk2 lol

Well yes I don't have much experience of GTEs but they are the only two I've wanted to drive

I've emailed the link to a couple of peeps I think may be interested mate

Brilliant to hear you will be back out too, always great to see you on track, giving it the big 'un 8) 8)

Uh oh, here comes the next crazy plan then!

You'll shift all that lot quickly on a Skyline forum won't you?

As Craig says, a shame to break a nice car. However, a power train transplant will be quicker / easier than a new build, assuming the rest of the car is to your liking. Projects are never finished...

Yeah handling is spot on and I've proved the chassis can handle big power :)

I won't have a problem selling the bits, just thought I ought to offer things up here first.

Lighter I get, but why N/A? Just for weight reduction?

You're not following Tango Turnbull's lead and going TVR straight 6 are you?
