Hello. Me SS1 owner

Post by Andrewwoey » Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:03 pm

Hello.

I have just brought a 1985 1600 SS1. Its a project car with some work done by other owner(s) but still plenty to do. It came with a owners club keyring and i'm hoping previous owners have used this site, so i can find more information on the car. I will probably end up taking the body off the chassis.
I am from north Worcestershire and normally mess with motorcycles but decided a new car project was due. I'm glutten for punishment. I will update my profile location when I can find how to do it

Andy.

Hello and welcome.
I'm that man and as Jim says, would welcome the registration number and VIN so I can check whether your car has been registered, or not.
These little cars are most sustainable and, once up together, great fun to drive. You'll find lots of information on here and there's lots of expertise in the club.
Please keep us informed of progress and good luck with your project.
Kind regards
Mike

Welcome. Best advice is to locate your nearest noggin (local scimitar nut meet) and it's also worth attending Scimifest held the weekend of the 19th of augaust at Curborough sprint track. There will be loads of other scimitars from the little ss1 1300 through the ss1 18ti to the gte/c and middlebridge.
Our traders will be there also who if you are order will bring your order along.

Good luck with your project!

Hi Andy, and welcome to the forum! :D

As someone who's been using a 1600 SS1 as his daily driver (for a huge mileage) since 2002 (15 years  doesn't time fly!), I can certainly agree with Mike's sentiment. Good luck with your car, and I look forward to hearing more.

Thanks Roger. I will post more after the weekend. I brought the car, blind. Stupid thing to do and against every thing that i normally do. It will be an extremely slow build as i have my bike builds, that take priority. Hopefully when i take a proper look underneath, there are not to many horrors lurking. I have had a quick look and i can see some work as been done. Updates to follow.

Andy.

give a shout if you need any parts - there's a few of us that have done body off rebuilds, so a couple of things to watch out for like hidden bolts and rivets holding the body tub in :-)

Its a bad addiction. I thought i managed to break the car addiction and only carried on with the bike addiction. Sadly the bug is never far away. At least i will never be bored or rich! There is always something to do and some parts to pay for. :? :?
