New Member From North Wales

Post by Tornado300 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 6:48 pm

Hello All

I have recently retired (early) and into classic cars and Landrovers, I have had (0ver many years) Lotus, TVRs,
Rover 105s, P6, MGs, Landrover Series 1,2,3, 90s,110s, Tomcat, Wildcat, Fords, and a Scimitar Se5a.
I currently have a few Land rovers and a Scimitar Se6b.

I would add that some of the vehicles were purchased in a sorry state which I restored over the years and then
was persuaded to sell them (by she who must be obeyed). Not that I was too despondent as it is my hobby (passion)
to restore them and then look for another project to move onto. I would say I have learned a lot doing this over the
years but have always learned something new on each project I have undertaken.

Forums such as the RSSOC are a fantastic knowledge base to learn and share experiences with other like minded people,
I look forward to being part of this club forum and hope in time to be able to contribute in some way.

Cheers

Tornado300. Allan.

Welcome Allan where abouts in north Wales are you? I spend a lot of time in Anglesey (feels like home) and family that live near St asaph, and my grandma grandad retired to prestatyn (long since passed away)

Hi there, I'm based on Anglesey for a little while longer. If you're after some places of safety (garages who are happy to help and are classic friendly), for those little bits and pieces you can't do yourself, let me know.
There are a few Scimitars here and my Rose White / off white / OK... grey SE6a goes up and down the coast road once or twice a week

I am in a village five miles outside Wrexham called Bwlchgwyn which is 17 miles from St. Asaph, 20 minutes from Graham Walkers Chester Scimitar. The village has the claim of the highest village in Wales, however its lost its status now. House sits at 400m so plenty of snow hence the need for alternative transport (Landry) to the Scimitar in the winter.

Steve good know about your garages as we have a static on the North Wales coast so the Scimitar gets a run out to it at least once per month.
Cheers

Ty Crwn, Gaerwen, best MOT station on the planet, Arfon smokes a cigar whilst checking under the bonnet (in a way that is totally confident and never going to set your Scim on fire :-) !!! Owner of (seriously) lots of classic cars including 2 modified Lotus Carltons, always something interesting and normally very old in the garage when you visit. Same owner as Tacla Taid (Grandad's Junk or somehting like that) Motor Museum in Newborough

Race Day Developments, Brynsciencyn, on the left hand side as you drive through the village towards Anglesey Circuit / Trac Mon (Hywel is a Scimitar man and is on the Facebook group)

Bridges Garage, Pentraeth, reassurance is found in their ownership of Dunlop type tracking guages

Mon 4x4, Pentraeth, he owns a Turbo MX5 but please find forgiveness, top man who is very helpful

Barnes Auto, Four Crosses / Menai Bridge - proper enginearing shop, head shop, etc.

BBH Engineering Bangor 01248 209459 - proper old school, big lathes, machine oil aroma, wade through swarf type place, highly regarded amongst the locals

Llanberis Slate Museaum - huge big toy engineering shop that will knock out a prop shaft for your (ocean going) steam ship, also environmentally sound being powered by a huge great water wheel. In all seriousness, fantastic free museum with great heritage pieces and the biggest drill press' you've ever seen

My list of Cafe's and Ice Cream shops is far more comprehensive :-)

You'll have to give me a shout when your next here, otherwise I'll see you at the Noggin, should be based in Mossley from mid August onwards (all depending on solicitors, surveyors, people who do searches... house move, grumble)
