It's not tyres you need to worry about !
It's a well set up fairly standard car in wet conditions .
It will beat bhp all day long , just ask Mr Crouch when we were at Harewood in the wet

Craig must be happy with those times - his rear wheels must have been at the same rpm as the fronts for about 10 seconds of that lap

Re: Curborough 25 March 2014 - test day
Set up and power levels will most certainly have played their part. But as we all know, there are good and bad tyres for the rain. My R888s were pretty bad as would be expected. Steve and Josh were on Yokohama Parada spec 2. Maybe Paul had something better for the conditions ?Coupe' Racing wrote:Oaksey wrote:I'm still wondering how Paul managed to drive that quick

If he's competing in that this year, I'll be in the bar with Craig if it's raining

Re: Curborough 25 March 2014 - test day
The wet always hands an advantage to supple well balanced cars, but Pauls is extremely good
and to be fair he chucked it around beautifully, measured and fast
Luckily if it's dry and with soft tyres fitted, my car will come alive
Jim
Yeah, didn't check the speedo but as i git to the left hander by the paddock office on a couple of runs, I wasn't far from the limiter in fourth, such was the extent of the wheelspin, which I reckon was 100-110mph when the front wheels were actually doing 50-55...
The Toyo T1Rs weren't that bad when it was raining properly, but as it started to ease and the puddles dissipate they were dreadful (understandably)

I hope I got a video of it - the back kicked out when you went into third before the first cone, then again when you grabbed fourth around the last cone

Re: Curborough 25 March 2014 - test day
IIRC Paul's car has a Quaife diff in it, a very nice bit of kit and makes a world of difference. I have one in KMG and whilst it's only handling half the power of most Ti's, the difference in traction on acceleration and deceleration is amazing / annoying - I like wheelspins and struggle to light up the wheels to impress passers by
Should be a good season, a mix of sunshine and rain will give for interesting scores on the board!

Re: Curborough 25 March 2014 - test day
Cars setup for stickier 1Bs so much stiffer than is needed for road tyres Mike and also it has 360 rampant Japanese stallions trying to rip the tread from the tarmac
As a road tyre they are very good imho and as such should be a good 1B road going tyre so long as the chassis isn't setup uber stiff
