agreed but is it connected or disconnected for 95? I'll have a look at the loom next time I'm over and probably just leave it like it is :D
philhoward wrote:Mine doesn't seem to backfire on the overrun and I don't have a speed signal sensor, but its not a Ford. Might affect idle speed and/or the rate the engine speed drops between gears. If its a speedo cable mounted sensor then probably 2000 pulses per mile (or thereabouts) - rather than the theoretical 16000 pulses per mile for mine!
I don't want to go down the road of electronic speed sensors if I can help it - just worried that it could overfuel on the over-run and confuse or even damage the lambda sensor? Further thinking has asked how it knows the throttle is closed from speed, why doesn't it take that signal from the throttle position sensor?

Nope - that shouldn't happen. It'll be the difference between coasting at Lambda or coasting at infinity mpg.

Andy has used Megan all year - working for PGL in Ross-on-Wye. The track to their centre is very rough, so she has suffered a bit with stones, potholes and general dust & dirt.

last month one of the seat frames (built to take the mx5 seats) cracked, so we fitted standard seats for now.

As mentioned elsewhere, we took the dash out to replace the slipping wiper wheelbox last weekend. 4 hours later it was changed (and visually very worn) but still slipping! Turns out the splines on the wiper arm were worn!!! still, we tidied up the dash, speedo binnacle and centre console.

as the season has finished, Andy is on "tidy-up" for a few weeks, so got some pictures today:

As some will know, Andy went from PGL in Ross to be one of "Santa's little helpers" over Christmas, so Megan was tucked up in the warm for the winter. He then got a contract in Tignes for 4 months, so I decided to start project Megan3

take this:

engine and gearbox from this:

All the galv bits pictured here

and the panels from Victor's scrapped SS1 roadster (which may be resprayed :-))

and (bearing in mind I'm also building two more small sports :-)) this is how far I've got:

I think so, he had enough hassles with his new ST170 conversion :-)

Very nice - when my brother had an ST170 I always thought I'd like the engine out of that, but he managed to get too much money for it as a running car! :(

Bill showed me the dyno prints for his engine at Curborough and it looked pretty impressive, so that'll be a nice package :D

So this will be a first then Jim, an SS1 with Rover K power. Be interesting to see how it handles and goes compared to a CVH model.

great progress and proj mate :-)

hard fuel lines run, battery live fitted, engine and box dropped in, spare bulkhead trial fitted (small adjustment required on the actual tub to clear the throttle housing - the Sabre bulkhead is a slightly different shape), inner wings fitted to mock up fittings for air filter & coil on LHS, fuel filter, washer bottle & expansion tank on RHS:

the cooling circuit on these engines is a maze, all 3 radiator inlet/outlets swap sides and one of the heater pipes comes from the water pump (opposite side to heater) - I'll sketch it for reference and add pipe dimensions etc as I replace them with silicone. I also have a remote stat but no idea where it was originally fitted!
