2017 Scimfest Autotest

Post by reliant-reviver » Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:51 am

Thought a new thread might be best, but do merge if preferred!

Results from the awards I have, the rest you shall have to wait until slice for -

Fastest Time of the Day -
Josh Oakes SS1 1800ti
326.81

GT/GTE
1st William Hawkins 472.27
2nd Keith Painter 474.59

SS1
1st Max Benton 364.45
2nd Philip Andrew 373.79

Ladies Award
Lizze Griffiths 1207.57

Hats off to John et all involved in the running of the auto test. I would say it's the best fun I've had on one for many years. Very entertaining and challenging courses and well organized for us to get through 4 different ones.
The bar has definitely been raised and the notorious Mr Oakes takes home the gold yet again.

I trust there will be plenty of pictures in due course. A few from me -

Basking sharks in the foreground with some ratty old chicken coop in the back ground and Neil Coley beyond that showing his 1800ti a bit of mercy unlike some others....

Josh's loosely attached gearstick did not do so well at holding back oil which promptly sprayed over both of us and onto the bootlid in the second test.

A combination of factors made it a more costly auto test for some with an unscheduled rush out to Kwik fit in the afternoon for new rubber to race on the next day!

Lizze (not Jess!) had a fantastic time and was chuffed to win an award. Car and passenger are fine after the off road adventure and she can't wait to have another go next year. Thanks to John and all the marshalls and thanks to all the competitors who were not only very encouraging but very patient in waiting for their next go!

Duly amended, blame John's handwriting or more so my poor memory. I ask names but it rarely helps, a reg number would have stuck

She did a great job though, I didn't actually catch the mole hill moment happening but glad no harm came of it. Top marks for getting back behind the wheel afterwards though and the time afforded by the less frantic and more respectful pace was much welcomed for those who needed a lie down after runs out with certain people!

Yes, more to follow in due course - I decided to live dangerously and venture into darkest Cheshire to visit the family, before returning, so today is the first time I've looked at my photos properly. Here's the moment when Josh's usual precision deserted him on one of the reverses - the expressions tell their own story! :D

That's a Slice back cover if I ever did see one - to go with another Oakes Autotest pic from a few years back?

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.
