Just found this whilst looking for pics as someone told me the old car had been badly damaged at Brands at the weekend...

Ouch! that's a shame, sorry to hear about that, at least it sounds (from the acompanying text) as though the drivers were ok....

Crikey. More concerning is the state of the Elan! Not sure what John Muirhead's Lotus 7 is like from that though...

Must admit I was more concerned about john and the elan, they seemed to come off worse, and were totally blameless of course....

Having watched it again, it looks like it should have been a case of "aim at the spinning car, as it won't be there when you get there". All too easy to say with hindsight though. John Muirhead (Lotus 7) had no where to go as he was inside the Elan and had to follow it's path...

My thoughts exactly, but as you say Ben, easy to say that watching I suppose... looks like scim tried to keep foot in as wheels are still spinning up to it hitting track??

From the video the scim looked to be in a much better state than the elan. I'm assuming it's a game over for the poor SE5, any pictures of the damage?

Quite shocking the elan seems to be able to move after all that, I feel most sorry for the lotus 7 driver, had nothing to do but just watch it happen.

Real testiment to the cars, and racing safety, that everyone got out alive

im guessing as all the cars involved are GRP (am i right on that one?) the bodyshell took a lot of the impact, if it were metal we'd be looking at matchbox crashed versions of the cars!
