In 2008, 3 SSSC (Scimitar & Sabre Speed Championship) competitors made the jump to circuit racing: Ben Gough (SE5A); Gareth (Raz) Nutley (SS1 Turbo) and Paul Turnbull (SE5). Paul was the 2006 (?) SSSC Champion, Raz was the 2007 Modified class winner, Ben went on to be the 2009 SSSC Championship.
Paul was first out and had some cracking results in his orange "Tango" car in the CSCC (Classic Sports Car Club) Swinging 60's series. Here he is at Mallory in 2008:

Raz was next out, and had a pretty good season with the RAF race series, he finished the year off as part of the winning Birkett team in 2008, which is chronicled here:

This is him earlier in the year at Rockingham

Ben also ran in the CSCC Swinging 60's series, starting slightly later than Paul. It was a steady year with highlights of 2nd in class at his 2nd race in Anglesey and taking fastest lap at a wet Castle Coombe in his last race as a novice. Here are Paul - 14 (1st in class), Ben - 75 (2nd in class) and Danny - 54 (Iain Daniels) 3rd in class in his Sabre 6 at Anglesey – a Reliant clean-sweep of class D (2 – 3 litres engine capacity).

All 3 got their licences signed-off in in 2008 to get rid of the novice cross (6 races have to be completed without incident to get the licence signed off:

It was quiet an eventful circuit racing year!
