Spa Six Hours 20-22 September 2013
Ok chaps and chapesses, is anyone going to this event this weekend?? I'm seriously thinking about going as a last minute thing, would be nice to camp/convoy there with another scimitar if there is one.
Also if anyone has been before can you tell me about camping, as I have read of people camping next to the circuit for free? So not sure what I would need to book.
Many thanks.

Re: Sabre 6 at Spa Six Hours race
Nothing conclusive here: http://www.roadbook.be/spasixhours/en/hotel.html - I guess you've already seen that page? It mentions free camping, but then says the circuit might charge?
Handy to know - I'll be passing there on Sunday...and to expect a little bit of traffic!

Yeh I saw that too, if I do go my plan is to travel on Thursday and Monday and leave plenty of time to get to the tunnel on the return.philhoward wrote:Nothing conclusive here: http://www.roadbook.be/spasixhours/en/hotel.html - I guess you've already seen that page? Yes, Simon commented at Silverstone that he was hoping to be out at Spa, I've just checked the Provisional Entry List for the Six Hours, and he is listed at number 92. Good luck to him, and hope it goes well!toomanysabres wrote:I think the new owner of the same car as last year is competing.

My Plan is so far...
Thursday - Travel from Somerset to Folkstone, use tunnel train then on to Spa (8+hrs)
From what I have read hopefully camp right next to the circuit in a car park for free. Maybe just pitch tent in classic parking area and see what happens.
Tickets are purchased at the circuit and that's it right?
Monday - Follow same trip for return
Costing rough guess;
Train - £125
Petrol - £350+
Ticket - £21
Food/drink - no idea
Camping - Free??
Have I forgotten anything?

Food and drink - you'll pass a huge Carrefour at Liege not long before Spa. Roadworks between Calais and Dunkerque a bit of a sod. Brussels can get busy. Should take 3-3.5 hours from the tunnel. Did it yesterday..

Re: Spa Six Hours 20-22 September 2013
In circuit food is a bit strange, by the beer & burger stalls is a kiosk where you buy little blocks of tickets eg 10 euros worth then exchange 2 or 3 etc for a beer or chips. I suppose its faster to be served and more hygienic.

Re: Spa Six Hours 20-22 September 2013
Thanks for all the tips they help a lot, think I'm going to do it. Very tight schedule though, have graduation tomorrow then I have to pack everything ready for an early start Thursday. It will be my fist time with the scim abroad and first time driving abroad too, I did go to le mans this year but my brother drove.
I'm thinking car checks now; new spare tyre today no longer fits under the bonnet but the boot is fine, all fluids etc and some extra spares/tools from what I normally have. Car is driven regularly so not too worried, and has covered about 1 thousand in the last month or 2.
Getting excited now, going to be great!

Re: Spa Six Hours 20-22 September 2013
Buy the 98 petrol if you can their 95 has10% or more ethanol. Yellow reflective jacket, Bit of tank tape on the dip wedge lines of the headlights, All your car docs, AA/RAC breakdown cover. Classic car park was pretty jammed last year, I didn't see camping there. We only spent £170 on petrol in my Sabre Six and that's with triple Webers. 3 weeks ago the 98 in a Carrefour was £1.375.

Find Simon Drabble in the pits and give him our regards.
Edit : forgot to say a reflective triangle.

John Valler's son Richard built the engine in the GT40 car 3 and got fastest lap. So well done for that,

Re: Spa Six Hours 20-22 September 2013
John Louch mentioned the sabre 6 had a gearbox failure as they'd rung to see if John and Danny had a spare to supply (they no longer prep the car for current owner I believe)
