Perhaps it's time somebody discovered a left over rivet from the chassis of 649GUE and then could commission a total rebuild of the original car, based on this surviving rivet! :w

That is Richard Prosser's one. I didn't mention it earlier as I thought it was sold. Maybe I'm wrong or is it an old advert?

There is a story behind the disposal of 649 IIRC.

The car's been up for sale since mid 2010. I saw it at the Bonhams auction at the Revival that year where it didn't sell. James Ewing has had it up for sale pretty much ever since, I think. (AFAIK, anyway?)

I keep hearing whispers of this, but I've never heard the whole story. Anyone (at the risk of getting too far off-topic) like to spill the beans?

Ooooh! - do you mean there *is* a surviving rivet? (or maybe more.....?)

Can't remember where I read it (thought it was sharpening the Sabre but I think Chris has read that?) Geoff may know more?

Nothing other than they brought it home. Customs would have charged them a lot if they didn't and the engine was used in the racer HWD.

I remember reading something in one of the old Slices once which suggested something about 649 ... if I come across it again I'll post it
