Hi All,
There has been a fatal accident on one of the observed sections on Saturday afternoon, not a lot of details as yet but its believed the driver died and the passenger is seriously injured in hospital. The car believed to be a " Marlin " apparently failed the section and was reversing down when it overturned.
Our thoughts are with family and friends for their sad loss.
Alan

How dreadful! Thoughts, prayers & condolences to the family/relatives of those involved. Trials must have been, hitherto, the safest form of motorsport...

Re: MCC Exeter Trial sad news
Very sad news. It was reported on the BBC here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-38547258.
It brings home the point that motorsport is dangerous, despite the relatively low speeds of trailing.
I've yet to read what caused the driver's fatal injury, but let's hope that any investigation leads to appropriate (and proportional) control measures, to help prevent a recurrence.

Re: MCC Exeter Trial sad news
Sad news indeed. Thoughts are with friends and family.
I have marshalled on the Exeter Trial several times with the Crashbox Club over the years and as has been said it was one of the safest forms of motorsport. It can be a bit hairy for the motorbikes if they come off ( have had one or two trapped under their machines) especially in the sections at Fingle Woods which I know well, but cars are usually OK.
I did the trial one year in a yellow coupe which was interesting but another story.
