Edinburgh 2/3 October 2015

Post by alan.wells » Wed Sep 30, 2015 7:55 pm

Hi Folks,
This week end the Peak District is hosting the last of the 3 main endurance trial, Friday 2nd Oct and Saturday 3rd, John my brother and I will be competing in the 1934 MGPA, our start number is late 185, meaning a start time of 04.05 from Tamworth Moto Services at J10 of the M42. The trial consists of a road section, then 15 Observed sections and the 2 Observed tests against the stop watch. The trial covers a distance of 173.5 miles not counting getting lost and going in the wrong direction, Reliant's in the line up 1 x Rialto and 1 x SS1, there are 93 motorbikes, 98 cars on the main trial, with a further 36 cars and bikes in "Class O" which take a less damaging and punishing route, its also ideal for first timers and old timers like us, but maybe in a year or two.
I will up date later next week when we've recovered.
Regards
Alan & John

Well folks, back home now from our outing, we had an excellent trial, the weather was kind although we had dense fog overnight and patchy during the day in places and the route was dry, John had fitted new led head light lamps, which were brilliant, we were running well ahead of time, but at the time controls and breakfast halt, the time marshal was allowing the vehicles out after the compulsory 1 hr break, but strict instruction in the route guide states that "Penalty for early departure", which means the time to leave the control is your standard time, with us running early we were 1hrs ahead of standard time meaning we had a 2 hour wait before leaving, many of the trailers left early, but if you want an award, you stick to the rule book, so after climbing all the observed sections and completing the 2 observed tests with no penalties and arriving at the finish no later than 10 minutes after standard time, in our case our finish time was 16.53, but we signed of at 17.01 just in the 10 mins limit, so a Gold award has been provisionally applied for. We now need to wait for confirmation in the final results, due in a couple of weeks.

Hi Folks,
Well, I'm back again with good news, the final results are now in, not only did we think we were going for Gold, but better still, we got the Class 2,Class Award.
The next trial for us is the VSCC Lakeland trial on the 7th November, hopefully. We are 3rd reserve on the entry list, and if we don't get an entry, and being in Keswick anyway, we will do our bit, Marshaling, I will up date after further information's received.
Regards
Alan
