Mike, you're starting to sound like Viv

Great photos, thanks for that, I may hear more at the noggin on Tuesday. It's actually James Ewing, the other half of the crew of the Dodge, that I know, if he's at the noggin, then that's bad news, as he should have been up in Scotland then!

Re the V8 Scimitar, judging by the colour and the side vents, I suspect it may be the one which was built, IIRC, by Dick McColl, which had a small block Chevy.

Apols about the quality of some. Released my ageing digital camera has just about given up so reverted to the camera phone !! Hence better quality. The camera also made it appear a lot lighter than it actually was !

Roger, yes it did sound different, I remember thinking that's sounds good for a V6 !!

The two guys in the P5B. Great fun and effort but you could smell the petrol and she drove off so i was thinking £££££ in a fuel bill !!

Here is the Dodge
Michael is not an insignificantly sized chap. The navigator is in the back. They did swap at times.

Thanks for the link to the Dodge photos, Geoff. James did comment that it was a bonus that, although the car was old, it does at least have a roof!

I see from what appear to be the latest results (after 2 days) here, that the Scimitar was lying 32nd overall and 3rd in class :D Good luck to them for the rest of the event!

I went to Carlisle last night, where I met a couple of friends who'd been following LEJOG around the North of England. There were a lot of the cars there within an hour or so, and it was interesting to look around them. The SE6 was fantastic. It was smelling of hot brakes when it arrived, but it had a very refined burble to it, with the 5.7. Loads of extra vents, and it looked like the front grille was hollowed out to allow extra ventilation. It looked amazing, covered in road dirt, when it arrived.

Blimey, exciting.
I saw the competitors, nervous, happy, blase, anxious,

all as they were about to start such a big event and here they are wearing all the patina from 3 days hard competing. That white porsche with the martini style strip was immaculate. Nice to see the scim holding its own. Does ti have a bigger engine than the mustang (289 ?)

As it's a 5.7 litre, then that equates to 347.8 cubic inch (usually called a 350, I think), so yes, bigger than the 289 cubic inch Mustang (4.7 litres) :D

Great to see our LeJog car here in the forum. You are quite right. The car was bought of Dick Mc Call some 7 years ago. Just made it's Swiss MOT and this was it's first rally outing. Performed faultlessly up to John O'Groats and was great fun. Thanks for the mental support here.

Welcome to the forum, Stefan! :D It's great to see the car out competing, and running well. Do you have plans for more of that sort of thing in the future? :)

You would be an outstanding entrant for the Italian Lakes Rally for which I will be doing the results.

Welcome,

If you are planning to do LEJOG this again next year I will definitely visit and support the North Scotland leg. Well done!

(and well done on getting a Swiss MOT, I suspect that is a story in itself!!)
