2017 SSSC Academy Winner!!!!!

Post by CNHSS1 » Mon Apr 24, 2017 7:02 pm

im glad to announce that this years recipient of the SSSC Academy assistance will be Peter Smith!

for the last few years the RSSOC have supported a newcomer each season to start into motorsport with their Scimitar. The Club Committee assist with the financial outlay for the drivers mandated safety gear such as helmet, race suit and gloves, with anything left overt to be spent on race entries. Many newcomers find the struggle to begin competing very difficult, so the Club recognise that and assist in any way they can. The comp sec offers advice on a suitable car or how to prep an existing car in their ownership, assists with anything from licence application and class eligibility, to test days and first events.

in Peters case, he has a little form for fast scimitars, having bough the ex Pete Silcock Sabre Ti prototype a few years ago, but Peter expressed interest in competing, and went on the hunt for a suitable car. When Dave Evans beautifully prepped red SS1 Ti came on the market, Peter spoke with Dave and a deal was done. Having sorted the race wear and skid-lid, Peter hasn't wasted any time in getting some track miles under his belt with test day at Curborough and also the test Day at Loton Park prior to the season opener SSSC hillclimb a couple of weeks ago. His initial progress has been very brisk, with some cracking times and each run getting much faster than the previous so it does look very much like we have another new compie that has been well and truly bitten by the bug!

my congratulations to Peter on becoming the 2017 Academy recipient, and myself and all the Club Committee wish him well and look forward to reading of his exploits in the next Slice mag 8) 8)

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.
