Custom free flow exhaust suppliers

Post by swoakes » Tue Nov 08, 2016 5:26 pm

Guys,

Need a new exhaust on the SS1.

I want a full SS custom system but want them to design a free flow system from scratch not just fit a SS version of the regular exhaust.

Can anyone recommend any suppliers in the NW :?:

Cheers

JP Exhausts in Macc' have a very good reputation. I took the manifold of the DET to them to be welded, they did a lovely job. In the past they've made manifolds for GW and QRG, and they always have some sort of race/rally car in having a custom system fitted. Word of warning though, it'll be expensive.

Is Tony Law still making exhausts? Again not cheap but good stuff rarely is, but to use a Josh-ism, it'll be 'reet' whatever that means

Topgear quoted me £500 for my C900 and that was exhaust only, no manifolds just to give you an idea on their pricing, the GTE was £790 and that was with tubular manifolds albeit 6 years ago.
Heard good reports on JP myself but they never returned my call

Your down pipe should be re-usable. That's a nice thick walled piece of stainless that Chris made. I would think you'll only need the run from that to the tail pipe.

JP quoted me £750 to have the manifold remade in some nice quality stainless. But as a replacement is only £90 on eBay + a bit to flip the flanges, I didn't think it was worth having.

I'll check out the downpipe and manifold but as far as I know they are both OK. The boxes are rattling and caused spiking during the noise test at Debden (103db).

I'd like to reduce the number of boxes to 1 and run the rear pipe under the axle to avoid the restrictive turn. I know nothing about exhaust design other than restrictions are bad so would like someone to look at the car and come up with a design that maximises power.

Summary of responses so far

J P Exhausts Macclesfield

£750+Vat

Powerflow Exhausts Crewe

£300-£350. Need car to give accurate price

Longlife Stockport

Want car or Photos to give me a quote.

MIJ Exhausts Walsall

£284.99 all in.

Next job is to give them a ring I think to see what I'm actually getting for my money.

I have had good service from MIJ Exhaust Walsall. Bespoke exhaust and they knew what they were doing. Did a small extra piece of work for me at no extra charge.
Based on my experience I would recommend.

Blimey, I knew JP were expensive, but........... wow £750. Do they think it's a GTE with tubular headers.

They did say SS1 in the quote but I agree that it sounds a bit rich. I'll query the quote.

JP have confirmed that they quoted for the 2 pipe V6 system

He wants to see the car for an accurate quote
