The even more eagle eyed might spot this car taking an unconventional line! Looks like a Sabre 6? 811FUE I think?: (Hmmm it's not Mikey's dad is it!) Anyone recognise the car?

Nice find Craig; shame that the crowds don't turn out in those numbers now!

Edit

I thought it was a Sabre 6 too but I wasn't confident enough to mention it

Further update to that - I've had a look at the then-current Sabre register in Slice 53 (May 1980) and it appears that it was a very early car, chassis SS300003 (the earliest 6 listed), and was shown as being in Liverpool.

How do you guys find these things? Thanks Roger and Jim for the PMs. It is indeed SS300003. Doug Gorge who owned the car between 1975 and 1982 has just emailed me with the same link. He thinks the car would have been driven by Graham John at that time. According to the Register the car's last known owner resided in Wrexham but we know that he died some years ago. Doug also pointed out a Sabe 4 (very rare hard top version) at 1min 40 sec of the same footage and thinks that was driven by Alan Minshaw. Does anyone recognise that car? All well before our Sabre time.

The Sabre Six 811 FUE was used as a support/crew car for the Reliant Rally team :D

Here's a great period photo of it in colour. Note the exhaust coming out of the side :D

Hi Dave

NCM 260 it would be. According to the Register Sabre 4 Reg. NCM 260 was originally registered by Argyle Motors. It is chassis No. S200158.

if the driver was a Minshaw, could well be Alan Minshaw, the founder of Demon Tweeks.

Excellent find by the way Craig :D

I had previously been going through the Mace Archives and there are numerous clips I would love to see, which haven't been transfered to digital yet.

I emailed them to get an idea of price for the Reliant clips they have:

"We can transfer up to 4 short titles to MPEG4 (totalling no more than 15 minutes in length) in an hour and our discounted hourly rate for members of the public and not-for-profit organisations is £60 + VAT per hour"

They have around 30 clips I wouldn't mind having copies of!!

Dave :)
