Best (for grip) list 1A Tyres?????

Post by swoakes » Tue Sep 17, 2013 3:20 pm

Following Jim's comment re T1-R's in another thread just wondering where other people would put their money if they wanted a very grippy A list tyre. I have Yoko Parada's on the Sabre which seem good but I have nothing to compare them too. I have some B tyres on the way (Remembered Craig :?:  ) to see if its worth taking the handicap hit which I will trial at the next test day.

id be looking at Maragoni or scudo stunners if they are still on the list. mega soft and the tyre to have in 1A, B &C couple of seasons ago.

if not Yoko AD08s which I think Nick H ended up on? not cheap but will bring the times 8)

yep, tyres are sorted and ready to be loaded up Friday night

Maragoni have 2 in list A "Zeta Linear" and "Mythos". Any thoughts :?: Can't see any Scudo tyres on any list but the Yoko AD08's are in A still.

ive used none of the above, but a few friends in Roadgoing at Loton in the British and/or Midland Championships raved over the Maragonis 2-3 years ago. I suspect the Yoko AD08s are the current vogue

Are you sure Steve, there is also an AD08-R listed in 1B. Looking at what's available on t'internet they appear to be a track day tyre.

I've found these http://www.blackcircles.com/tyres/brand ... neova-ado8 and these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171119427379 and they both look the same.

About what :?: Yoko Advan Neova AD08's (No R suffix) are in list A. No AD08's in list B Steve. A008-R is closest I can see. Are we looking at the same list Page 194/196 in 2013 Blue Book :?: or maybe the R compound is new from Yoko and will be added next year :?:

The list 1B looks to be A008-R, but with my crap eye sight it looked like AD08 .

A008-Rs are the original sticky Yoko 'back in the day', think they only do them for classic mini sizes now (some one make race series iirc)

Advan is another of Yokohamas brands, possibly where the confusion has come from.

whatever you buy for next year, purchase post xmas to get freshest stocks. All tyres, but especially sticky racey types, don't like big temp variances of heat and cold and don't like exposure to UV (don't leccy weld near them) or else they harden.

that's why Mr Red Rockets front tyres were fitted the day before 1st Loton event, very fresh :-)

R suffice is Yokos race moniker, wouldn't want to second guess whats gonna be listed for next year, the tyre suppliers have to nominate and pay for each tyre submitted.

has anyone noticed the List 1B kumho faux pas? it says 'V78' I suspect someones dictated that as V-70-A and heard as V78

Well now we've sorted that out, would they be worthwhile anyway ? For the same price you can have a set of R888's SG or for an extra £50 you could have Kumhos. You should easily be able to make the 1B penalty work to your advantage
