2013 Season Predictions

Post by Nick » Fri Mar 29, 2013 2:52 pm

Now we are getting close mine for 2013

Steve Louch will challenge for the Championship from the start ,and set some fastest times. I see this going to the last event

"Flat Cap" will have a "Pickering Special" engine, the latest in Beam Engine technology in tribute to James Watt. Watch out Too Tall Paul

Craig Hughes wil be worth watching with his usual exuberance  even if on a bicycle. I predict some form of SS1

Steve Cork will get quicker and quicker through the season

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Steve Oakes will slowly start to understand the entry forms, regulations and what stuff to take to the event himself and what he can scrounge off other less space concious competitors

No predictions on my driving I will just let that speak for itself whether it be good, bad or indifferent  BUT I guarantee that I will enjoy myself

Very much looking forward to it just gutted that Curbs test day was cancelled; feel very under prepared :(

Enjoying oneself is what it's all about, and you'll be doing plenty of that Steve.

I'm making no predictions other than I will have haemorrhaged a load of cash by the end of the season  and hopefully I will be a bit quicker

I lost my cherry at Loton last year on a very wet day. Character building

It's not a cheap game Steve as I'm finding out. I hope things pick up for you, so you can come and play too.

I keep telling swmbo it's cheaper than golf  and don't have to wear silly trousers to do it.

For me the key to Loton was preparation. Watch some U tube, review the better guides. allow plenty of time to walk the hill. Braking points are crucial with at least 2 being blind- do not get greedy early. Get a good exit from ther Esses ( ofen a higher gear is better) and try not to lift before the braking point for Fallow. I find being somewhat aggresive through Triangle and Museum works, but not out of Loggerheads or Fallow. You need good traction.

No doubt Craig will be along to improve on this

No Nick, that's about spot on :D

my personal predictions are I get back out there and have fun, regain my car-building Mojo, and enjoy the social and banter that is the SSSC 8)

I will no doubt get my ar5e kicked royally, but hope to keep the odd one or two honest.

I hope to live up to Nicks suggestion of 'exuberence' too

as for Championship predictions, red Rockets gonna have his hands and mirrors full of Team Louch by the looks of the dyno plot! so that will be a MEGA battle to watch unfurl over the season for outright times.

whether they will beat on handicap old FlatHat with his new engine, battling with his nemesis Too Tall Paul, im not sure.

the dark horses have to be the Keyser Brothers with their carefully built CVH SS1s. Light, good power spread for a 4 pot, very nimble with both of them being handy at the wheel, they really could be the guys to beat.
Boys, if you are reading this, get back in the garage and get those cars out ASAP!!!

as ever a good season in prospect, with newbie and relative newbie, The Cheshire Polishing Steves both out in pretty sorted cars. Both will make big leaps forward i'm sure, learning the tracks etc, so long as they put the polish down long enough to apply themselves to the job in hand!

Lets hope this season inspires a few more to return to the fold and a few more to come out and give it a go 8)

:hand:

I agree that the Keyser Brothers could be the ones to watch. Very quick at Curbs last summer and should do well on handicap
