Brian, maybe take it for a couple of track days and see if you can find the max limit??

But i think we are up against a completely different stylee car and the calcs don't take that into consideration. I think driving a GTE to within an inch of its life is the best reward, anyway.

Is we sideways yet...

Also worth noting that it’s horses for courses; a car that goes well at one venue won’t neccesarily at the next. I’d put money on my old S2000 going around Goodwood or combe as quick as my SS1, but I’d absolutly destroy it’s times at Curborough, Gurston etc

This isn’t clearly evident in SSSC as so far your the only one running the larger gauge rolling stock this season, it’s tight at the top in CM some rounds have gone to one car one weekend, and yet another has shone the following. The G4 is a good example when you compare its times on the hills to both days at Anglesey.

The GTE vs SS1 debate will run and run imho. As Nick K has said, its horses for courses, GTEs suit some circuits better than others and also certain venues suit standard , mildly molded or wild variants of either.
Has to be said Brian, the pointies were going off left right and centre, they were often over the limit of adhesion, talent and traction :lol: you stayed on track 8)

The Essex excels where you need a wide spread of power and swapping cogs just doesn't do it. The Ti's are even worse having a narrow band and sod all below, I was always impressed how the GTEs at say Loton, could hold a gear and be competitive, wheres the small cars are cog swapping wheel spinning or dying off cam/turbo.

I also agree with Corky that cars with 20yrs difference on design (SE5/a to Ss1) will always struggle to be equal. This inequality disappears when you move away from Roadgoing as you can tweak the bits that are holding back the times (more power, more grip, better shocks springs, brakes LSD etc), so whilst I agree with Corky re standard Roadgoing, i dont see theres a benefit to ss1 or GTE as the cars become more modded.

As for scims vs CM, again big stock cars from 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s ain't gonna cut it with a s2000 or latest Porsche, so either buy a Honda or porker, or modify your cars :-)
