Total waste of a day - late starting, convoy run instead of first practice took forever and didn’t make up any time. First practice took ages, then lunch. First timed run took ages, then after being lined up for 15 minutes while the sun got lower and lower, the timing kit broke. Couple of re-runs and then there was oil on the track which apparently took fifty twelve marshals, the ambulance, the recovery vehicle, the course car, the environmental clerk and the course clerk 45 minutes to clear up - by which time it was too late to run the last 15 cars. An absolute fiasco compared to the Dick Mayo sprint earlier in the year.

So the brilliant battle that I’d been having all year with Jamie Fisher-Pearson in his MG Midget (0.52 points behind him coming into today’s decider) didn’t get finished satisfactorily, with me getting to within 0.03 on handicap today. Ho-hum, there’s always next year :(

To cap it all, it appears (from the published regs) that the SSSC regs weren’t re-written following the drivers meeting in 2015 or 2016, so Josh had already won based on number of circuits competed at.

Congratulations Josh :P

Hmm, very frustrating. What a strange ending to the year.

I do wonder at the ineptitude sometimes of the events. The competitors put the real hard work in, pay serious £, all the organisers have to do is follow a well proven format. Why don't the MSA for example make it happen. We pay enough to be part of them.

The last Wiscombe i did had a 4 hr midday break then only 1 timed run. They still took £100 odd off 180 competitors

Is we sideways yet...

Sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan. That’s three incomplete events this season, which must be a record. Very frustrating when you’ve paid out and put all of the effort in to get there.

What’s the deal with CM, are they scoring it?

Oh, and congratulations to Josh. Well done.

I think CM will just score based on T1.

Somehow it doesn't seem fair to score on one run, if you don't know you're only getting one go.

I wonder how it's going to pan out next year when you only get one practice run. Will we only get three runs in total? Will organisers increase the entry to take up the extra capacity?

You're welcome to voice such ideas at the drivers meeting.

Be prepared to come away with a new admin based past time though!

Will all events now only have just 1 practice because its now permitted by the MSA :?: :w

With only 3 timed runs counting for CM at some events I can see the car park emptying by mid afternoon unless as Corky suggests event organisers increase the permitted entry numbers and slow everything down  (if that's the result I'm out :!: ...too much time sitting around as it is  )

Yeah I agree, even just seeing my first event out it seemed quite boring really with all the waiting around.

Just to be clear this is nothing to do with CM, it's down to the MSA changing the number of required practice runs.

My point was that if they only have to give us three runs 1 X Practice 2 X Timed, then you could potentially be getting one run less for your entry fee (and would organisers take advantage and increase the entry list to fill the extra capacity). My hope would be for 1xP 3xT on the hills, and 1xP and 4+ xT at sprints. Which IMHO actually improves the sporting element of the day.

I agree more timed runs is a step forward as long as total number of runs doesn't decrease during the day.

Be interesting to see how the organising clubs introduce this change.
