SSSC Specific 2018 Results

Guys.

I need to alert you to a problem with the above results

Nick Keyser queried his points at Combe and my technical department have investigated (Corky) and I can confirm that indeed the Combe points are incorrect as are Blyton x2.
Whilst the spreadsheet is also incorrect for Shelsley x2 and Goodwood as only 1 person ran at each of those events this does not result in an error.

The sheet has correctly calculated the winner of the 25 points so Josh is Champion but the points allocated to other runners at those 3 events above are less than they should be.

Apologies for this error which appears to have occurred when the extra events were added to the spreadsheet for the CM calendar.

Well done to Nick for querying it 8)

I'll post a revised table hopefully tomorrow.

Can I query why my points from Castle Coombe (July event) dropped from the results posted on the 19th September from 17 ish to 14 ish on the later posted results?

I'm not even going to pretend to understand the maths behind all this, but noticed they had changed??

The whole spreadsheet is being checked for the whole season Andy so watch this space.

I’m currently doing the maths for each event to check that the scores are correct. It looks like the problem will only affect the last 5-7 events of the calendar. There’s a bug in the spreadsheet’s calculations that is missing the track length adjustment.

It’s quite a complex spreadsheet that sources data from several pages. Added to that there are a few macros in the mix too. I just need to understand all the interconnections so I can see where it’s going wrong.

The fault correction will not change the winners of any events, but will change the points awarded to the subsequent places. The nearer you were to the 25 points, the less of a difference it will make (fractions of a point). For anyone at the lower end (under 15), it could be a point or more.

The calculations can be found in the Regs, so there’s no smoke and mirrors

Guys, if you want some help, just shout. I did notice (when I was briefly administering it) the added events (this year having many more than normal) exceeded existing calc lists boundaries (eg A7:B15) etc but kept an eye on it.

Cheers Mike. I’ve fixed it (fingers crossed  ) . The results now match my manual calculations, so hopefully Steve can now publish the results.

There was one other minor issue. The spreadsheet was using a track length correction factor of 50, when in the regs it states that the factor is 60. I’ve put that in and although it drops fractions of points throughout the season, it hasn’t changed the place order. So nobody has lost out.

And just for clarity and transparency, this is how it looked previously with the track length correction factor set to 50.

THESE ARE NOT THE RESULTS. FOR INFORMATION ONLY.

Feel free to get your calculators out.

1.6.4 Each Competitor's best competitive time will be multiplied by their bhp/kg factor to derive a
target time. The difference between each Competitor’s target time and the winning car’s
target time will then be adjusted to take the length of the course into consideration. The
adjusted target time is calculated as follows: (Competitor’s target time minus Winner’s
target time) * (60 / Winner’s target time). The Competitor with the lowest target time at each
event will be awarded 25 points. All other competitors will be awarded 25 points minus the
difference between their adjusted target time and the winner’s best target time. Competitors
whose adjusted time difference with the winner’s best target time is equal to (or greater
than) 15 seconds will be awarded 10 points.

Only the last six events on this year’s sheet were affected by the failure to calculate the track length.

As for previous years, I’d have to have copies of the final results full spreadsheets to check properly.

I never saw the corrected final results for 2017, so they’re not archived.

Nick Hall must have the 2017 spreadsheet because he did the points last year.

Looking at points at Combe last year when Josh was faster and I was slower; I scored more points in 2017 than this year so I reckon the track length correction factor was wrong last year too......

I’ve resent the final results spreadsheet that we all received at the end of last season to Steve & Steve.
