Many thanks to Nick/Terry/Paul/Etc who managed the test days. Fantastic fun and lots learnt/discussed. Must get down to the hard work now and get a proper Sprint car together asap. I managed to crack 40 secs for the Single lap and 70 secs for the Double for the first time in 'Kinky' which was great for a bog standard engine (yea - I know I've got a 'big brake' upgrade and 22mm rear cyls) but overall a brilliant test day with variable conditions throughout the day. Great FUN and well worth the money !!!
Regards,
Viv

Viv

your car has an indecently strong std engine, probably the best ive driven, feels more like 150hp than std 8)

Craig,
Thanks but I'd like a little more BHP please :(
I was very much looking forward to running Samantha's SS1 around the track to see what the CVH could do but because it's now got over it's initial running problems (and is exceeding expected performance with my old turbo exhaust cobbled together to match) it was strictly off limits to Trackdaying/Autotesting - Damn !!!
Very, very impressed with the Keyser lads performances with the new 1900 CVH and a word of thanks should go to dad Richard for all his hard work helping to sort both their cars.
Regards,
Viv

Curbs bumper cam

Post by Corky » Wed Sep 04, 2013 2:38 pm

On the Saturday morning test day, I gaffer taped a cheapo HD camera to the timing strut of my car.

First run ended in tyre squeal and pointing in the wrong direction  , 2nd attempt was taken at a more sedate pace and I wasn't troubling the apexes too much

Edit:- Looking at the camera times, it looks to be about a 68 second double lap.

Sorry Josh, I can't find the details for the SSSC login for YouTube, so I put it on my own channel.

that's surprisingly good footage for a cheapo camera Steve. Im guessing a little stffer mounting (to nose rather than timing strut) would reduce shake further. Very useful for lines and adding in with incar too.

which camera btw? ebay jobbie?

It was from Amazon, one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005 ... UTF8&psc=1 .

It's been used underwater in the sea, on the front of the car, my daughter took it to a very muddy and wet Leeds festival too, and it still flippin works.

As the only method of mounting available was gaffer tape, the options were limited

That's what I thought. I actually bought to take snorkelling in the Med', but I think I'll find some more car uses for it. Suspension cam perhaps :D

ive always thought id like to try a suspension cam with the bullet cams ive got, just never got around to it. General issue is its a bit dark under a wheel arch, but with cheap 30+ LED work lamps now, im sure one could be cable tied up under the arch to illuminate and then the cheap cameras should work ok (generally don't like poor light)

I have a little hand held LED lamp about 6"x 2.5", maybe bring to shelsley and try on yours for a run?

It's easier than strapping someone to the underneath of your car to take notes
