I shall await pics from our tame Goodwood correspondent Roger P with interest :-)

I seem to remember Gerry Cunningham broke the 100second barrier in Red Rocket with Nigel Reeves chasing in E89 TOB (became my turbo racer) and not quite cracking it? and that was deemed to be a real benchmark time, so Jims 106s stands up really really well in an underpowered car.

James C is always top entertainment, hes defo got a diploma from the school of 'if in doubt, flat out!' 8).

will do my best to compete there next year for sure :D

jim,
Excellent effort mate - should be very worrying for all those others at Curbs !!! Very Good meeting and some very quick cars also (eg. several Nissan GTRs - one of which was pumping out 750BHP and hitting 175mph in the Lavant straight ! Wow ! and that was somewhat slower around than the single seaters on show). get your thinking cap on and gain another second or two and you'll be a serious contender.
Regards,
Viv

Good work chaps, sorry I couldn't come over as i had last minute "stuff to do" before me holibobs!
All is not lost though, had a great chat with a new SS1 owner who only lives 5 minutes from home!!
Hope to catch up with everyone at Curbs and possibly Gurston Down!

Well done to Jim for an excellent result, and well done also to Richard and James (especially James!) for some good times and some great entertainment too - shame the second run didn't quite work out though. It was good to see you all too :D I look forward t the next time. :)

Now to sort out some photos.....

Don't panic!....Don't panic!.......

Been displaying at a car show today, so A little delayed, I'm afraid. Here are some track photos, paddock photos to follow. :D

First, here's Jim on his class-winning run in the SS1. as mentioned previously, an excellent performance, in a good car :D

Image

Image

Next, here's Richard in the Black Beast, looking smooth

Image

Image

and last, but by no means least, James, looking good, and very quick, a sub 100 sec time was an excellent performance.

Image

But sometimes, when you push the limits, you end up on the wrong side of them - if there were marks for artistic impression, James would have picked up the prize.
It didn't look to bad at first, just running a bit wide:

Image

Perhaps a bit of lock will sort it:

Image

Maybe not.......

Image

Right, floor it and head for the finish.....

More to follow (copies will be available for Mr Editor Terry if required) :D

Thanks again to all for a great day out! :D

Can someone confirm official times for me and i will update the Championship.

On a rough provisional basis, assuming James' 120bhp/840 kg it would be

James C 25 points
James K 24
Richard C 23

Shows that even on a fast track the Handicap works. Interestingly James' SS1 has a virtually identical handicap to my old Turbo and posted a similar time to me last year. As yet James K is not registered for the Championship.

the times for the Black Beast are very impressive- Richard significantly quicker than last year. Curbs will be very interesting

Also a mention in the text for Richard and James' GTE, and a "mention in dispatches" for Chris' spectating Sabre 6 :D

I mentioned that I would post some shots taken in the paddock as well, here they are:

First Richard and James Carter's Black Beast:

Next, James Keyser's SS1 CVH:

Here's the engine, complete with rather nice exhaust manifold: :D

Image

Image

Image

Team Carter's tow car:

Image

Chris Gallacher's well-known Sabre 6 :

Image

Image

and a vehicle, not seen before, with (I believe) an unexpected custodian.....

Image

I was there in the SS1, but sadly forgot to take any pictures of that  :(
