MIRA/Debden

Post by PeterSM » Thu Apr 06, 2017 9:42 pm

Hi all
What do people think about these events? MIRA is just down the road from me, Debden a lot further.

Peter, I've moved this into venues rather than events - have a look at the relevant threads here already.

I've never done MIRA but they don't allow spectators or cameras and I believe they have an uber sticky bit of test track.

I've done Debden a few times - flat with some cones, I think they changed the track a year or two ago?

MIRA is a strange track to be at (they want you to tape up your camera phone lense) but a good, fun fast track!

Debden is brilliant, one of my personal favourites.

Both have parts that are laid out in cones which put some people off but I found when I started it was nice to know all I was going to do was hit cones.

Completely different tracks from one another but both great fun.

Yes, Debden is twice as long and very technical in places now.

James,

Do you have a contact for Debden? Whilst provisionally in our Calander I have not heard from them

Debden is great fun but I personally find that the vast number of cones make it very difficult to navigate my way around what is a pretty long run. Picking braking points is very difficult (for my old brain anyway   )

I doubt we will be at Debden this year and I would tend to avoid MIRA for similar reasons although we have never done it.

Both are traditionally not well attended

I didn5 like debden, surface wasn't brilliant and sea of cones are also not my favourite. I can see why peeps like it though, just not my bag.
Mira is good, fast and challenging although one section does have cones. It has Dunlogrip tarmac which is grippy even in the wet and the track drains in minutes (it's a proving ground after all).
Not the most charismatic due to no spectators though.

Like Craig I like MIRA. Reasonably quick and grippy.

My famous "off" trying to take the second left-hander flat at about 100 mph. Ran wide and spun cutting a lot of grass
