Loose wiring - in the wheels !

Post by drcdb15 » Tue Apr 03, 2018 8:19 pm

Well, not quite in the wheels, but far too close for comfort. Found this today, hanging in the general area of the front offside wheel. I have no idea where it's supposed to go, or where it's from. I haven't been disturbing anything in this area at all, and there's nothing obvious not working. Does anyone recognise it and can tell me what I can do with it (!), please ? Thanks

Probably the brake pad sensor - not much use the first car I had with them on failed to detect low pads - heard them squeal first. cable tie them to the wishbone and forget.

Agreed, most of the pads available now don't have the wires fitted, so it may not have been attached since the last time the car was serviced and had new pads (or even longer than that). The metal clip on the socket might have been clipped on somewhere, and has finally worked loose.

Many thanks folks - didn't even know there were such sensors on the MB !

I shall sleep easier tonight knowing the car isn't falling apart around me (famous last words!).
