2,9 spark plugs

Post by DARK STAR » Tue Aug 29, 2017 12:45 pm

I thought I would put in the new plugs I bought years ago (see thread 'bogging at 4000 rpm' 8) )
And what a surprise, they are completely different from the old ones, particularly the head size which is 16mm instead of 21mm.
Can anyone confirm that they are correct please?

Old plugs (which worked perfectly) BERU UX79 R6
New plugs BOSCH FR7DC+

I have BCPR6EF plugs fitted which have the smaller heads - it makes no difference what size the heads are. You do however need to check whether you need plugs for counter sunk seats. If I remember correctly if there is a K stamped on the head just above and to the left of the No 4 cylinder you need counter sunk plugs.

Thanks for your quick replies.
The bit that goes in the engine looks identical so it seems they will be ok.
I'll give it a go anyway ...

The rating is OK, if you are happy with the seats then the smaller hexagon just makes them easier to get in and out.

Yes they work!
The engine is more supple at low revs - but now doesn't want to go over 3500 rpm :bh
I'll go back to my bogging thread ...
